Hello there amazing entrepreneurs how are you all doing today I hope all is well and you all are having a wonderful day, today I will be taking part in an inspirational contest organised by @harferri whose theme is focused on our work life.

In my today's entry I will be gladly sharing with you all my career growth and journey as well as the life changes which I have experience as well as how I have been coping in other to maintain a healthy professional and personal life

HOW IT ALL STARTED

---

As a young ambitious young guy with big dreams and in search for paradise I started working and struggling for myself when I was 17 (seventeen) and I must confess it wasn't easy for me.

When I started college back then in 2019 I knew for sure that life was going to be hard for me, and I was ready to face it head on but I must say I didn't find my work rather my work found me.

---

So the bet shop that was in our community had closed down because the cashier had embezzled a lot of money so he was arrested by the owner of the shop, and I was just on my own when I was recommended by our youth leader so I was then invited to the shop and I was interviewed, I was young and I didn't know anything about it so I'd forced myself and accepted the job.

So I started work as a cashier and coupled with being ignorant about some of the basic things I made a lot of mistakes and I owed my oga some money till one day when a customer nearly beat me up because I made a mistake in his game and I was confused and I didn't even know what to do so I cried and beg because he called me so many names.

And a lot of people told me to quit the job but the thing is I do not quite, so I made a promise to myself that I will work as a cashier till I become a boss and make a difference.

MY CAREER GROWTH JOURNEY

And eversince then I started making some profit from it and though my oga came and sell the place so I stop working and focused on school and due to lack of money I was unable to cope with school bills so I'd dropped out.

---

And luckily for me after a while I was then invited to the place which I'm currently working now still a bet shop and it was there the magic started happening I started as a junior cashier but now I'm the manager of the shop and trust me I have seen a lot of changes in my life.

Though it wasn't easy because I had to take care of myself and also provide support for my brothers when the need arises but the struggles and starvation was much until I became a pro that I am today, I also challenge myself to make a daily savings so as to go back to school because no matter what I must make my dreams a reality I must become a college graduate.

THE NATURE OF MY WORK

The nature of my work is not child's play and it is a kind of work that can easily make you rich and also it can definitely put you as a cashier in police custody due to depth and mismanagement of company funds.

My work as a cashier in a bet shop at some point always look simple because all you have to do is sit down one place and attend to customers but the Problems is when the customers become to many and all needs attention as you can see in the above images.

The customers will come give you money for you to place a bet for them if they win you pay them but if the loose their money becomes companies money but the problem is when there are too many customers you can easily do mistakes and place one bet twice or even more.

The nature of my work isn't easy as it sounds though I'm the only cashier now working in the shop and customers are always too many for me to attend to so I have invited a lot of people to apply and get employed but all of them will say "God forbid I don't want to end up in the police station"

WHAT I HAVE LEARN

Working as a cashier has taught me a lot of things starting from being able to manage funds especially those that aren't my own and another thing that the work has taught me is patience, I have learnt that with patience we can achieve so many great things in life and also no matter the numbers we should attend or access them one by one.

HOW I'D MANAGE MY WORK LIFE BALANCE

Trust me it hasn't been easy on me because of the nature of my work because in the morning I will have to go to work and come back late at night with no break or relaxation I will be attending to different customers through out new faces everyday with no break until it's night when work time is over.

---

Trust me I won't pretend my work life has been really stressful a lot because the only spare time that I have for myself is in the night when I come back home.

---

And the only tip that I have been using to manage my professional and personal life is "self determination" I have been able to cope through all this because I know exactly what I want and my target and once I achieved that I will give myself a break.

---

And the only strategy you can adopt in other to survive as a cashier in a bet shop is you shouldn't be greedy rather you should always be contented with what you have, also you will have to be focused witg what so ever you are doing in other to avoid mistakes especially when you have many numbers of customers to attend to.
