Dear parents and teachers

We should be very careful with the kind of adults we live our children with when we are not around. Some of them have spoilt our kids more than we can imagine.

There is this big private school close to my apartment. During the long strike, I was bored at home and I needed money, I decided to apply and teach in the school

Having met the principal, he told me outright with such peacock pride that his school does not employ average teachers and moreover there was no vacancy. Like a whole me, studying in Department of Agricultural Extension, University of Uyo with the best and most strict professors and doctors, you called an average teacher? I felt insulted but I needed to prove a point

I wanted to work because of laziness staying at home due to the strike by academic staff union and secondly I needed a little cash. I went back to the man and told him to allow me teach for free for two weeks under close supervision, and then he can judge if I'm good to go on... Surprisingly and to my delight, he agreed.

I started teaching. After two weeks, I told him my work is done, he sent me a message and invited me to his office, I went and he asked us to bargain my salary, I told him his school would not afford to pay me. It turned out that after two weeks of not going there again, the children started asking of "Uncle Loveday" and some parents who heard about me withdrew their kids after I left.

Now here it is, while I was there, I always held free lessons for all senior classes every Monday Wednesday, and Friday after school specifically in accentuation, stress, syntax and grammar.

But everytime the class was held, there was this girl in the corner that always fiddle with her phone. An itel smart phone. She sat at the back of the class close to the window and every time she's into the phone and when you looked up she would pretend to be writing.

One day, curiosity took the better of me and I went out of the classroom as if going to the staff room to bring marker, I turned towards the back and from the window, snatched the phone. Lo and behold, this girl was watching pornography from her phone. I was stymied

I maintained balance and finished the class. I later called her personally and asked her how she knew about porn. She told me she saw her uncle watching it and when the uncle left the phone, she always used it to watch them in the name of playing games. This girl had become addicted to it. I had to call the parents personally and relate the case to them. The father left us angrily and the mother stayed till the end.

Yesterday something else happened. There's a school close to my friend's house. Whenever I go there, I stop by to learn some words with the kids. A child of seven attending the summer lessons did something outrageous. A child of seven has been fingering this girl of four. So the little girl couldn't contain it, she reported the boy to Uncle Loveday, when I called the boy, I threatened to beat him up, he told me he saw it in his uncle's phone and had been doing it in her primary school with his seat mate, Mary

I don't know what to type again, but dear parents and teachers, you have a responsibility to protect your kids

The world is becoming something else but thank God you caught these kids and cautioned them. I just pray they desist from that evil act permanently. Nice write up by the way
