After my Jamb and Post-Utme examination results was out, it was certain and not needing any prophet to tell me that I had already gained admission into the prestigious Law Faculty of The University of Nigeria Enugu Campus. All glory be to God who made this possible, I was filled with joy even before the admission list was out. As God may have it my name was on the First Admission List. I accepted my admission, paid my school fees while waiting for resumption.
What was the atmosphere like
On November, 2018 I resumed school and sadly there was about to be a strike action. When I first came into UNEC, it all felt strange and new to me. It was during the dry season, the sun was blazing and the heat unbearable. With my White and Black outfit, my tie strung so tightly to my neck everything about me screamed Fresher.
When I arrived at the Schools Main Gate, I was met with a huge Statue of a Lion, and the slogan "Welcome to the Den" came to mind and then I knew my journey has just started. I took a bus to my Faculty which cost #20 at that time, it was a short ride as the driver stopped at intervals for other students to get down, this gave me the opportunity to get a view of UNEC.
When I arrived at the faculty, I needed know one to tell me this is Law Faculty because you are greated by a funny looking statue of Lady Justiciar who was wielding a matchet instead of a sword. I then walked into Coscharis which is the name of our lecture hall. The class was buzzing with a whole lot of students who happen to be my classmates. But as a fresher, locating the particular hall was through asking for directions.
I was nervous, curious and anxious all at the same time. Most of all even in the midst of the crowd I felt alone. Actually I was alone cause I was the only out of the entire Art student in my Secondary School that made it here.
I had to heed to my dad's advice, so I took the front seat which I will later on come to despise. The first lecturer, a tall fair beautiful middle aged woman walked in, she introduced herself as Mrs Ochiabuto and took us on Legal Method. Her lecture was smooth even though I literally understood nothing. She sent some students away for not putting on their White and Black while warning against late coming.
Who were some of the people you met in school
After the lecture, we moved to the faculty building which is different from our lecture hall, Law Faculty is the most beautiful faculty in the whole of UNEC and that is a thing of pride. We flocked like Zebra's to the faculty building, which is a very huge building that was undergoing renovation. With our files in our hands we moved to the Faculty Officers Building.
The interior of the building was a site to behold, it was amazing. I met a whole lot of people, just having conversations in the passing, but I also met my guys who later turned out to be great friends, Abraham, Dominic, Vincent and Trump. We talked about the faculty and how everything was different. I complained bitterly to these guys because the strangeness of everything was overwhelming for me.
Did you guys turn out to be great friends
I thank God for bringing these guys across my part, they are the kind of friends your parents always want you to be around. Whenever I am confused or lost they are always there to encourage. We push ourselves academically, most times we have meaningful conversations about life in school and what we want to do after school.
Everytime I am with these my friends I feel I have someone, I feel encouraged and I am grateful for the impact they have had on me. Indeed they are true friends I can rely. Since 2018 till now we are in 300level we are still together.
I am inviting @offia66, hungryug and @prosper to participate in this contest
Each time I see law Students I wish I studied law, thank God you got yourself friends to keep you going and cover for you where needed.
Expect my entry soon.
