Hello great steemians, I am happy to have you in my blog, very big thanks to the @campusconnectng community for organizing the ongoing contest in the community which is about my views and experiences of campus hostels and lodges around. As you read through my views, you will know that schooling on my part was not easy but God was the overall protector.

Question

Which did you do when you gained admission on campus, did you reside in the school hostel or not?

Everyone who passed through this experience would know and understand this better. Some are fortunate and some of us were not fortunate to have people who bother so much about our welfare. I gained admission into Nasarawa State University Keffi on the 16th of November 2016 but I resumed school on January 5th, 2017 reason being that there is not enough money for registration and accommodation. When I resumed, I had to a squad with a coursemate I knew from the class and begged to move my bag to her room in the hostel because I was moving into the lecture hall with my bag. Staying with her wasn't easy also but she saved a soul because there was no place to lay my head so, I managed in the hostel with her for a whole 3years.

Question

What is the reason behind your choices (Why and why not did you pick the school hostel?

Sincerely, every individual if given the chance, would love to have a very comfortable apartment in school for also privacy.

I chose to go to the hostel because the money for registration was not enough for all I am supposed to settle or pay to the school talk more of renting.

Another reason was that I stayed there free without paying anything to the hostel administrator because I was squatting and not on my portion which you know it is never easy.

The last reason was that the hostel is closer to my lecture halls, therefore, lesser my expenses.

What are your experiences in the school hostel and in wherever you decide to stay(positive or otherwise

Experiences in the hostel are uncountable. But for the sake of the contest, I would mention just two.

I was bathing in an already washed bathroom because we had cleaners who clean the hostel and get paid. One of them was praying bad and wishing students bad luck but what was her reason? Her reason was that after washing the bathroom, we come and mess it up again and when I heard that, I was not comfortable, I had to look for her and tell her never to pray such to children again because such prayers follow truly. She said it is because of the student behaviors toward them and I told her not all student behaves badly and she admitted she wasn't supposed to utter such no matter what.

I use cooking gas to cook and in my room, we are 10 people so what happened was that, whenever I go to the class for lecture and come back I will see my cylinder, not the way I kept it. But I realized my roommates use my cooking gas to cook whenever I am away without permission and which is never good but annoying.

Did you enjoy your stay there and why?

I didn't enjoy my stay in the hostel at all because there is more of an annoying attitude, no comfort, no privacy, the hostel is never a place to start reading especially in the afternoon, stealing, gossip😊 There were also thieves in the hostel if you are too careless.

Question

What do you think needs improvement?

Yes! The number one I would need it improved is;

Employ more cleaners
There should be an improvement in the aspect of security because there have been issues of rapes and boggling.

Question

What are the advantages and disadvantages of living on campus?

Advantages

Closer to library
Closer to my lecture halls
More secured than off campus
Less rent payment

Disadvantages

No comfort
No privacy
Losts of gadgets especially phones
Prune to infection
