CHAPTER TWO

We were still in the cafeteria when Tunde walked in. Tunde is the Head of Department accounting and by effect my direct boss. He's interested in Amanda but she has always turned down his advances because of her Interest in me, unfortunately he takes out his anger on me in small ways that won't be too obvious.

"Afternoon sir?" I greeted already knowing the situation could escalate.
Completely ignoring me and still smiling at Rihanna
"I just left your office, looks like you came here early"
"Yea and so"
"What of the file I gave you?" he said only just acknowledging me
"I' have gone through it sir, its just a bit of adjustments left " I replied
"And you had the audacity to come and sit here laughing and smiling "
"umm I'm sorry sir" I replied stuttering "it was lunch break, that was why I left it"
"You left the work I gave you to come and gossip,"
"Very sorry sir, I'll go back to the office" I said and already standing up from my sit
"Where do you think you're going?" Amanda said pulling me back into my sit, she stood up and faced Mr Tunde
"Don't dare talk to him in that manner. You yhink I dont know what this is about"
I trying to calm her down and stopping her from making a scene.
"So you understand abi,. Dave meet me In my office immediately" replied TUNDE and he stormed off.

Other staff were already watching us and if there's one thing about me I prefer anonymity when I'm at work.
". You shouldn't have ignored him"
"Oh he didn't deserve that but he talks to other people just as he wishes right"
". please I'll see you later"

For the remainder of the week i went out of my way to avoid Amanda, but regardless Tunde still tried as much as possible to frustrate my efforts. Every file i worked on always had one problem or the other, i decided not to tell Amanda anything because i didn't want personal problems becoming work problem.
Weekend came again and it was going to be my same old boring routine, but i was glad i could get away from the office wahala.
I was in the kitchen frying plantain when there was a knock on my door, so i went to check who was at my place so early in the morning.
It was Amanda i saw through the peephole, immediately i opened the door she flew into my arms giggling

"Surpriiiiiiise, morning" she said in my arms, she was looking and smelling really good.
"Morning Amanda, you're looking beautiful this morning?"
She inhaled the air
"I dey always like make i see man wey sabi how to cook his meals"
"No whyne me o, you dooo?" i was already feeling uncomfortable
"Anyways I'm here now, so just relax yourself and let me take care of you"
"You really shouldn't, besides I'm almost done with it"
"Young man, i said sit down and relax" she said feigning mock annoyance

Amanda finished up in the kitchen and served the breakfast of rice and stew with plantain.
"Amanda are you not eating?" i asked her
"Why?"
"Because you only served just one plate na"
"we're eating together you silly boy"
We spent the whole day together, and she left around 6pm after cooking dinner and making stew for me to use the next day.
I was about to sleep when i got a text from Rihanna "Hi Dave, sorry i forgot to mention this earlier. My cousins birthday is tomorrow, i'd like it if you were there. "
I just smiled shaking my head, Rihanna will never change. She's always trying to spend time with me at every opportunity.

Woke up to her text showing the address of the place, i had to be there early to help her with a bit of preparations. I didn't mind the extra stress, Rihanna is really a wonderful friend.
I got to the house on the address, walked down to the door and knocked. It was going to be a house party, someone opened the door and I stood transfixed.
"YOUUUU" was all I heard.
