Hello, my fellow campusconnects friends, I'm happy to be part of this contest today. I want to sincerely appreciate @simonnwigwe for inviting me to this noble contest today. I will be discussing the topic under review which is my Views And Experience Of Campus Hostels And Lodges Around my school.
Which did you do when you gained admission on campus, did you reside in the school hostel or not?
When I got admission into the university, I didn't reside inside the school hostel and the reason that my brother was already in the school and he lives off campus. So when I got admission, it was easy for me and since my brother was about to finish and the compound he is staying in is close to the school, I decided to stay with him until he graduates so that I can take over the room.
What is the reason behind your choices ( why and why not did you pick the school hostel)
The orientation I was given by my brother when I arrived at the school is that staying in the hostel has a lot of restrictions. One of the things he told me that discouraged me the most is that you can not use hot plates or gas in the hostel. We have a steady power supply and then buying kerosene every time can be very frustrating. Another reason is washing the pot since we are using a kerosene stove.
More also, you don't have too much freedom when it comes to movement because the hostels are usually closed by exactly 10:00 pm which most times while the off-campus is the time I usually enter the class to study because at that time everywhere will be very quite. And when I'm done I can go back home at any time but those in the hostel can't enter their rooms until 5:00 am.
What are your experiences in the school hostel and in wherever you decided to stay (positive and otherwise)
Staying off campus was very fun because I never had any issues or complaints about any of my items missing. I don't look for things in my room because nobody comes in without my knowledge. The complaint that people in the hostel normally make about their things being stolen is one act I never experienced off campus.
The only negative aspect I experience is the absence of light sometimes. Most times if the light has issues, the school hostel normally uses the generator and that is when I love to stay in the school most.
Did you enjoy your stay there and why
Yes, I enjoyed my stay off campus. A life off campus was without stress at all. I do things at my own will and at my own time as well. I go anywhere I want to go and return on my own time. There is no law of when my door will be closed and all that. I also didn't have to look for any of my things since I'm the person who keeps them at all times.
What do you think needs improvement
Staying off campus is very nice but the only thing that needs to be improved is the provision of alternative means of power supply since the power supply controls a lot of things in our daily lives such as pumping water, using a hot plate and so on. So generators should be provided in houses off campus.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of living on-campus
The advantage of living on campus is that you have a lot of security and there is a steady power supply and you do need not buy your bed since the school gives you a bed. The disadvantage is that you are restricted from using a lot of things and also you have a time limit to stay put as well. There is no complete freedom for those who are staying in the hostel.
Conclusion
Staying off campus is quite very good because you will learn to discipline yourself as a person. I was able to control myself in my going out and coming in. I want to invite @yakspeace, @josepha and @jasminemary to also join me in this contest.

The movement restriction is one major disadvantage when living in the hostel but it comes with it's advantages. Wherever anyone is staying they should be happy and comfortable there.
