Hello everyone, and welcome to my diary game for August 21, 2022.
Yesterday was The Apostolic Church's 46th annual convention, with the theme "Remove Not, The Ancient Landmark," and on the way there, I encountered a variety of events, most notably traffic, which prevented me from arriving at church in time.
I've gotten out of bed early as five in the morning, dressed up, and prepared for the journey. I pulled out my phone and called for a bolt ride, but sadly there weren't any available. It's still early in the morning, and the location of where I'm staying is somewhat remote and challenging for bolt drivers to find. I made the decision to wait until 7am before trying to order again, and this time I was fortunate to find a bolt driver online, though he was quite a distance away from me. I had to call him and explain the route to my house to him, and after 30 minutes he finally arrived. He started the ride when I got into his car.
Given that it was an international convention i.e all the members of the Apostolic Church both home and abroad are in attendance, there was heavy traffic on the ketu road, which led to the church camp. For at over three hours, I sat there while the ride and my money read. I had to get down to take a walk and receive some fresh air since I was sick of sitting for such a long time in the hot weather.
After a few minutes of walking, I had to stop because I was getting tired. I had to wait until the car I got into initially arrived at the location where I was. Shortly after I got inside the car to take a nap, the driver of the car I got into started fighting with one local bus driver. Before we knew it, they had both set down and were begins to throw blows.
The local bus passengers and other concerned bystanders try to separate them, but they don't heed their pleas. As this was going on, I refused to get out of the car and try to do the same because the last time I tried to do so a few years ago, I received a few blows to the face. Ever since then, I've vowed never to intervene in a fight, especially in public.
Fortunately for us, the police had to intervene and belt both of them because they were both adding to the gridlock by blocking the way of any moving vehicles. After they received their punishment, one of them got in his or her car and drove away.
These are things that frequently occur in Lagos, which is why I abhor the way of life there.
Finally At The Apostolic Church Camp
We finally arrive at the camp after a few more hours of slow ride, and as I step off the car, the bolt driver ends the trip. I was surprised to see the bill when I looked at it because it was double the amount I had expected to pay. I asked the driver why, and he explained that it was because of the traffic. Well, I had no alternative but to pay, so I did so via bank transfer.
I should have paid only 4,200 naira (25.25 STEEM) instead of 8,800 naira (55 STEEM). I was still standing when I took the picture of the front gate of the church camp, I had to zoom out using 0.5X, this helped me to capture the full view.
Following my entrance into the church, I took some photos of the environs of the building, some of which are shown below.
Following a leisurely stroll through the church surroundings, I made the decision to enter the church's auditorium, where worshippers congregate. The photographs I shot can be seen below.
There was a prayer session, followed by the taking of an offering and tithe, before the head pastor delivered the gospel and the choirs provided us with the best chorus. I had a wonderful time, and it will stick in my mind.
The service ended around 3pm, and everyone was rushing out, everywhere was crowded, and I had to wait, so I waited for about 30 minutes, and when things were a little calmer, I quickly opened my bolt passenger app and ordered for a ride, it didn't take more than a minute before I saw the nearest bolt driver, we chatted on the bolt app, and he asked me to come downstairs, because the church is a popular place, bolt rides were easy to order. I met the bolt driver and we talked about the trip; he said he'd have to take so and so route to beat the traffic, and he asked if I was cool with it; who wouldn't be? I immediately nodded in agreement, we didn't experience much traffic, the route he took was very quick, and in less than 2 hours I was at the bus stop closest to my house. In the end, he was right. Because there was little traffic and he took a short route, the cost was significantly less than when I was coming—I got out and paid the driver 3,700 naira (23.1 STEEM)
I had to board a bike right to the front of my house. I got off the bike after paying the bike man. Upon arriving at my apartment, I took a full shower before going to the kitchen to quickly make some fried noodles and boiled eggs. I then plugged my phone in and went straight to bed.
Thank you for reading, have a great day.
