I believe I speak for every Nigerian student when I say studying in a federal university is not for the faint hearted. It's as stressful, tiring and frustrating as it can get. Unlike the private universities where thier system is built to make things a little bit easy for thier students, the Federal university system is built to literally test every aspect of you.
Does it have it's perks? Yes it does. Here are few major hurdles faced in every federal university.

Absence of Student Right.

If you're a student in a Nigerian federal university and think you have rights then I'll seriously advice you perish that idea. The school management and lecturers are in full control of whatever decision they feel is good for the students and institution at large. The students have no say in the decision process and are expected to abide by such rules and decisions.

In my own opinion, I think this should be added to every schools academic calendar because it seems to have become an inevitable action every year. Studying a four year course in a federal university now means five years. If it's a five year course it means six years. All these is as a result of the federal government not fulfilling Thier duties and the union with Thier everlasting demands.

Too many Course units

The amount of courses one registers for in a federal university is absolutely ridiculous. I can vividly remember my 100l when I had to register 13 courses for both first and second semester and after going through that you still expect me to be sane? Registering such amount of courses creates an overwhelming amount of work load which leaves you no time for yourself.

Conclusion

Going through a federal university can be a hell load of stress. Unlike the private universities, things aren't as easy going. At some point you might get frustrated or even depressed but at the end of the day, it's all worth it. Thank you very much for reading through and happy holidays everyone.
