Goodday everyone I appreciate everybody's effort in this community as a Nigerian student they're many challenges students face in their everyday life in school so I thought of sharing ... We are going to be talking about DRUG ABUSE..
The case has destroyed many young blood in the society which the Government , Guidance and the school management has to do something about.

WHAT IS DRUG?

Drug is any substance taken which has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body.

WHAT IS DRUG ABUSE:

Drug abuse can be explained in many contest though in my own understanding I will say it is the addictive use of drugs for non medical purposes.
Drug abuse has always been a Demon disturbing both young boys ,girls, old men and women this act has destroyed many dreams and ambition although people who participate in such act claim it has it positive Act in them which I will vividly say that is a fallacy of the mind that stimulates their zeal to do drugs on a daily basis which is so Bad to them and to the society at large, From my previous research I
been able to understand that this act has made most people who participate in such act especially people who are already married it puts confusion and calamity to their family in all ramifications most Times .
In most contest parents who are drug addict tend to suffer their kids on necessarily especially when their old when all the results of the drugs were consuming starts bringing many kinds of illness to them which I will say it affects 59%of their children emotionally who try to take care of them.

DRUG ABUSE IN NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES

In Nigeria today this has been one of Our main problem destroy the society slowly starting from the leadership terrain ,civil service , church, mosque ,market , schools etc.
This act has gradually increased to its peak which increased drastically in the educational institution most especially in the universities.
The Government in its own way has tried basically in eradicating such act among students by making such children are thought about drug abuse and it's effects starting from primary schools to the tertiary institutions . Which I will say this move tried in the Rate of 20% in reducing act of drug abuse among youths.
Many laws has been made all around the world to stop intake of drugs but it seems not giving a 💯 percent positive result. From my own perspective I will say most drug addict tends to be part of this act due to the kind of environment they grew up or environment they find themselves.
Example I know of a young Boy in my school he lived off campus this boy grew up from a very strict Christian family which any body around him couldn't belief that one day he will be a drug addict , how did he join such act? Well I will say his environment in school were he lived affected him because In lodge were this boy was living I would say almost 85% of students living there is a drug Addict which I will say brought this young boy if 21year to a situation of taking drugs everyday Which finally destroy this young boys life which he just died of kidney failure last year .I know this story is touching but I must say even people who are drug addict have heard more touching story about a drug addict which didn't even stop them .
I will suggest parents most especially should try in making drug test a monthly routine to their children which I believe could help in control such stupid act of taking substance.

Last two years or there about ... I'm not really sure it was seen on newspapers and magazines that a certain university conducted drug text on some of their which there found out that 98% of students were drug addict.
After such mind blowing results the School administration had to out in place a law that guides students from been drug addicts, which they made such every student must Conduct a drug test every semester to see if that could help reducing the risk of drug abuse in the school premises.
In many universities in Nigeria today there is this drug called ICE which the consumption has increased to its peak thus substance is pure chemical which has this crystal appearance,this drug is much more dangerous than any other drug you can think of ...in every university in Nigeria it has been recorded that more than 45% of students take this substance which has gradually destroyed most of the users.
Although they are many other hard drugs which has been on sale among youths and students .

Types of Hard Drugs

1 * CRACK
crack is a free base form of cocaine that can be smoked. It offers a short but intense high to smokers. Most times it comes in solid blocks or crystals varying in colour from pale rose or white especially . Crack is heated and smoked.

EFFECTS OF CRACK

• Loss of appetite
• Increased heart rate, blood pressure,

2*TRAMADOL
Tramadol is common in the Nigerian society this drug can actually be used for medication only when prescribed by a doctor, this drug is taken orally .
EFFECTS OF TRAMADOL

• blood in the urine
• blood pressure increased
• blurred vision
• change in walking and balance
• chest pain or discomfort
• chills

3* CODEINE
Codeine is a substance normal found in cough syrup used for medication mainly for cough ,cold .. this substance is been abused by mixing it with acholic drinks or softdrinks .

• EFFECTS OF CODEINE
• drowsiness and constipation.
• itching, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, depression, and coughing.

4* SKUNK( SK)
This substance is like marijuana but with some added chemicals . it is much stronger than hemp and is a bit more expensive though it is as easy to get because it is sold by the same peddlers.

*EFFECT OF SKUNK ON SMOKERS *
*Loss of coordination and distortions in the *reddening of the eyes
*Acute headache
*Increased appetite

CONCLUSION

They are many Hard Drugs been consumed by drug addicts in every society and which I must say the Government and the officials responsible should put strictly laws in drug addicts which I thing can reduce the high rate of drug abuse In universities and to the society at large.
