"He who fails to exercise, exercises to fail".

As a student of Physiotherapy in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, I cannot overemphasize the benefits of exercise to students.

Studying for long durations can fatigue the body and mind and can be mentally exhausting. It is possible that alot of students go through mental stress. Exercise can, not only improve mental health but can also help with concentration.

It is common knowledge that students often have issues with sleep, mood and anxiety. Exercise can help students improve in those areas as well as reducing stress. Cognitive impairments could arise if problem with sleep, mood and anxiety are not taken care of.

Memory and cognitive function can be improved with exercise. It causes the release of certain chemicals which maintain and improve the health of the brain cells.

So as a student, while studying, you could take a break and move out, take a walk, stretch a little. It would help calm you down and give you that good feeling. Exercise doesn't necessarily have to be vigorous.

Generally, as a young student, you could lift weights occasionally as part of your exercise routine, or you could go for a routine jog in the mornings. Going to the gym is also a great idea.

Consequences of lack of exercise to students

  1. The chances of getting obese and overweight are higher.

  2. Lack of exercise increases the risk of developing diabetes which is dangerously becoming prevalent among young adults.

  3. The risk of developing a cardiovascular condition also increases with reduced exercises and physical inactivity.

  4. Students who exercise less may have reduced bone density leading to osteoporosis. This may result to fragile bones which can be easily fractured.

As you can see, exercises are very important in the life of students.
Let me conclude by reiterating that "He who fails to exercise, exercises to fail".

I believe a smart person is one who doesn't joke with his or her exercise life

Truly exercises are super good.
For someone who the distance of his home to the roadside where he can get a keke or cab is about 40km, will this trekking exercise be enough for him/her?

Nice article you have here @oguzvic. Exercise is really essential to help the body function well, and also affects the state of mind of a person. Students really need to make the best use of their free time by exercising if they wish to have a smooth learning experience in campus.

It's really comendable how you carefully emphasised on the importance of exercising.
