Hello, my fellow steemians, I welcome you once again to my blog. Today I want to drop my participation in the contest titled My Experience On Campus As A New Student In My University. Every person who has attended the university or any higher institution should have the experience to share because it is always an experience to talk about. This blog talks about my own experience as a student at the university.
What was the atmosphere like?
Normally, whenever you change an environment, you will always notice the atmosphere is quite different from your former place. In my case, it was the same scenario. I live and grow up in Jos Plateau state Nigeria and I got admission to Taraba State Nigeria. Those who have been in these two different places will attest to the fact that the weather in these places is two distinct weather. Jos is very cold whereas Taraba State is very hot.
The first thing I noticed was that the weather condition differs a whole lot. Aside from that, the way things and people live there are also quite different. Though I discovered that the people of Taraba are quite welcoming because on my arrival at the school gate, a lot of people offer to help me carry my luggage and take it to my hostel but I told them I'm new here so they help me to take it inside the school.
Getting a place to stay that day was not much of stress because the school has its hostel open for new students to stay while they search for houses outside for those who don't want to stay inside the school. My first week in school was really fun because I was together with a lot of newbies and we did everything together I.e registration and searching for a place to stay. Going in the group made the entire place very convenient and I didn't feel the absence from my home because I have found a new family.
Who were some of the people that you met during your first week in school?
As I have earlier stated, the friends I met first on campus are the ones we stayed together with the first time we came to the school. The school which was kind enough gave us the hostile to stay for the period of our registration which lasted about two weeks. I meet a lot of people and we all stayed together and even ate together. Those who came very prepared brought a stove and pot which we started cooking together even when we all came from different places.
I was fortunate enough to be with about three guys in the room so we cooked and eat together within the period we were searching for a room and doing our registration. After the registration, the two of us went out and then rented a room whereas the other two guys stayed in the hostel because they felt it is safer. But we left due to some funny rules and regulations in the hostile such as not cooking with gas, no hot plate I.e electric cooker etc.
Did you guys turn out to be greater friends in School?
We are indeed great friends with the guy I stayed within the same room. He was a brother I never had and he is always ready and willing to help. I never knew that he came from a very rich background because he doesn't show it at all. He most times gives money to one of our classmates to bring it to us anytime we are in need. He was always saying he doesn't have but God will provide. Before the ASSU strike, his parent came to school to pick him up to the UK to go and continue his studies. That was when I knew he was a rich dud. When I asked our friend who normally gives us the money he told me that my roommate is the one who normally gives him the money to bring.
Conclusion
My experience on campus during the first weeks was amazing. I met a friend that will always be part of me because of the assistance he rendered to me. He supported me financially, morally and otherwise. I have never seen someone so humbly as him because it is rare to see people who come from wealthy homes associate with people that way. I never knew that Philips is a very very wealthy background. I want invite @josepha, @yakspeace and @olabillions to also come and participate in this contest.
Indeed as a new student in campus you will be confuse and start looking out for friends that will help and carry you along. I am happy thy the friends you met you spent much time with them.
Thank you for inviting me to this contest expect my entry soon. Best of luck to you.
