Good day steemians, I woke up and thought to myself instead of waiting ages till my achievement 1 gets verified let me use this wait time to get verified on campusconnect community. Here is my first post, just really hope enjoy it. Let’s get started shall we

Who is a friend?

I feel that a friend is someone who will always accept you and always stand by your side through the bad times and the good times. Personally, I don’t thing that someone should have a whole lot of friends in their life because you would never know the one who is a true friend. In Nigeria today, you can meet someone in class and exchange number and chat and stuff but you can’t just assume that they are your real friends ,because you won’t know if they would be there for you in your time of need.

What people fail to understand is that there is a big difference between someone you call a friend and a true friend A true friend is that one thats always has your back and is there for you meanwhile your friend can just be an acquaintance who you talk to from time to time. In Nigeria, we use the term “my guy” when referring to these kinds of friends. Nowadays people take the name “friend” for granted.
Well I’ve had a lot of bad friendship experiences. there is this one guy that always felt he had a lot of friends ,in class there would always come and meet him and be familiar with him because of his money ,and everyday them would just be meeting him for his money ,and he didn't know that he just felt that they were his true friends ,and he didn’t know that they go behind his back and talk bad about him ,so he didn’t know this until a day that he seriously needed their help ,his mum fell really sick and she was rushed to the hospital , and he needed to raise the sum of 800,000 naira ,and he couldn’t get that amount of money on his own ,so he decided to go meet those people that he calls his friends ,and all of them took him for granted and they didn’t want to help him at all because they felt that he had a lot of money ,non of them really knew that he was serious and was actually struggling with the bills ,now here comes my point, you shouldn’t have a lot of friends that won’t even know about your struggles all they want to do is to be with you when your happening and winning in life ,but a true friend is someone who will always know them your at a time of need and would promise to help me out of that problem .

FEATURES OF A FRIEND

A true friend has the following features

• The should be supportive
  A true friend should always be supportive to you ,when your high or low in life ,they should always thrive to help you and see you in new and better heights.

• They must be trustworthy
  A true friend should always be someone you can trust with anything ,you can tell them anything at any time and won’t be afraid of tryout secrets getting leaked .

• They should always be emotionally available for you
  A true friend must always be there for you when you are down ,and should always have the best things to say that would brighten up any situation ,either bad or good

• They accept you for who you are
  A true friend is one who would accept you anytime anywhere easily

Conclusion

As the adage goes

A friend in need is a friend indeed

I’m not trying to say that having a lot of acquaintances is a bad thing, all I’m trying to say is you should have that one person or few people who you can fall back on when you are down emotionally, psychologically, physically even financially.
