ABUSE OF HERBAL DRUGS
drugs abuse (also called substance abuse)is the routine use of drugs in which the user consumes the susbtance in amounts or with method approved nor supervised by medical professionals some of the drugs most often associated with this term include alcohol cocaine heroin and barbiturates.drug abuse often leads to drug addition-a chronic brain Condition that cause compulsive drugs seeking and use despite harmful consequences to the addicted person and his associates
people often erroneously believe that only convention drugs can be abused, not herbal medicine. people who take herbal medicines often say it is safe because it s nartural like this may one always be the case some expert assert that because herbal medication , like over the counter (OTC) drugs can be purchased without prescription most people who use them do not consider them to be risky
some herbal medicine toxics or cause reaction either on their own or in combination with other conventional drugs .among the herbs that can be toxic are borage calamus comfrey chaparral ephedral and licorice these herbs if abused may cause hearts problem sodium and water retention Anand cancer causing toxins
according to professor Roger byard of the school of medical sciences University of adielade some herbal medicines have been found to contain pontentially lethal concertration of arsenic Mercury and lead these substance may cause seriously illness worsen exiting health problem or results in death especially if they are taken in excess or injected rather than ingested according to professor byard an analysis of 251 asain herbal product found in United States stores identified arsenic in36 of them Mercury in 35and lead in24 of the product in one document case, a 5-years old boy who had ingested 63 grams of Tibetan herbal vitamin over a period of four years was diagnosed with lead poisoning another case involved a young boy with cancer of the retina what parents resorted to herbal medicine that cause arsenic poisoning
Moreover some hebal medical practitioner often mix herbal perparation with convention drugs presumably to make them more effective.some herbs can pontentially interfere dangerously with the actions of pharmacy medication.infact some herbs become toxic when taken in large quantities there was a case of a herbal medicine that was said to work very fast. when the national agency for food and drugs adiministration and control tested this herbal medication it was found to contain to septrin an antibiotic. some people react to septrin iff these people were to take this herbal perparation without knowing the content a serious health problem may result
Although many herbal remedies have been proven to be effective for some health problems before you take any herbal medication find information about it from a pharmacist, a doctor the internet or library.
