Creative writing: THE FRUIT OF GREEDINESS by @rossnenye.

Cynthia was the only child of her poor parents. They find it very hard to feed. Her father works as a labourer in a construction site while her mom clears people's farm and do other menial job to earn an income. Cynthia graduated from secondary school and passed in flying colors. The money her parents make is not enough to put food on the table talk more of furthering her education. Her father had to sell his only piece of land inorder to raise money for her school fees because he believes in education.

A night before her departure, her parents advised her and told her to be contented with what she has always. They advised her to stay away from bad company.
The next day, Cynthia proceed to the University. She was assigned a room in the school's hostel with two other roommates Bella and Mary. The next day, Mary took her to her department and helped her with her clearance. She became very close to Mary because she noticed that they have the same personality. As time goes on, Cynthia noticed that her other roommate Bella lives an expensive lifestyle. She uses the latest phone, wears designers clothes, shoes and carries designers handbags. She also noticed that Bella hardly cooks in the room and when she does, she always cook with chicken unlike she and Mary that manages to feed.

When she could no longer take it, she voiced out to Mary. Mary laughed and told her how Bella sleeps around with different men just to make money. She also told her that Bella had so many carryovers and because of that she have spent so many years in school trying to clear them. Mary told her that she is contented with the small money her parents sent to her as upkeep and that her major aim in school is to work hard and graduate in flying colors, get a good paying job and take care of her family. Later on Bella packed out from the school hostel to an expensive apartment bought by one of her sugar daddies. The man also bought her a car.

Cynthia could not take it all again, she wanted to belong to the happening babes in the Campus. She forgot her humble beginning and joined Bella's clique of friends. When Mary found out what was going on, she went and advised Cynthia. She told her that her greedy lifestyle will bring her nothing but misery and agony but she sent her out of her house.

Cynthia's greediness made her to sell all her properties and invested it on an online business because she was told that she will make double of the amount she invested within two weeks. she later found out that the business was a scam and she lost all her money. She also got pregnant out of wedlock and when she tried to abort the baby, she had complications and her womb was evacuated.

Mary on the other hand graduated from the University in flying colors. Many years later, Cynthia met Mary with her husband and children. Surprised Mary asked her why she was looking so tattered and she narrated her story to her. She told her that she is reaping the fruit of her greediness.

MORAL LESSONS
We should learn to be contented and happy with what we have.

We should also shun envy and greediness because it's brings nothing but pain and misery.
