Campus Connect Engagement Contest Week 3 - My Experience On Campus As A New Student In My University || by @simonnwigwe

Hello everyone,
I welcome you all to this wonderful ongoing engagement contest in the @campusconnect community. This is the third week of this engagement contest and the community has been growing perfectly due to this program. I'm so delighted to be among those writing this amazing contest in this community today.

Everyone who has been to the university or any higher institution be it polytechnic or colleges of education, nursing or health schools etc has a story to tell about his or her first arrival in the arena. In this contest, I will be discussing my experience as a person about my experience on campus as a new student. The questions below will serve as a guide for me in giving a brief review of the topic under consideration. Let's get started.

My first day in school is a memory that I will not forget in a hurry. As someone who is seeing the four walls of the university for the very first time, it was to me as if it is an entirely different world completely. Indeed it is a different world because living in my place of residence I.e Cross River state to a new location I.e Taraba state, the weather and everything were completely different.

Cross River weather was quite friendly but on getting to Taraba state for the very first time the hotness of the weather was something else. The people in the school look completely different as no one is ready to recognise your presence. There is no place you can go and get information, everyone was on his own.

Living the secondary school where every morning you do assemble and everything that needed to be done will be discussed, it was not the same in the university everyone is on his own. It was not easy for me to understand the exact system playing on in the university. At some point, I got tired because I don't know which next step to take. When you go to this office for your documentation, you will be asked to go and finish from the other first. It continued this way until I was able to find people who are new too and we started doing things together.

As I have stated above, the very first people I met during my first week in school are the few reasons why I became a little comfortable and then adjusted to everything going on in the university. One of the persons I met during the very first week is a very good friend of mine by the name @yakspeace. She already has some experience in the university because she did her National Diploma (ND) before she came to the university.

She always guide and directed me on what to do. She also told me that this is not secondary school hence any course I fail as a person, I must rewrite it. She gave me the full gist about the happenings in the university and advised me to take this period of studies very seriously and also make sure I graduate with my mate. I heed her advice and then we studied together all through the period at my university.

I met a lot of people during my first week but all the people I met, we never ended up together as friends aside from @yakspeace. We became very close friends with her and we even share things. My closeness to her was such that we share our troubles and fear and we also studied together all through our stay at the University. She is a friend indeed because she helped me so much. During our IT program, I visited her family house and she introduced me to her mother and anties as well.

For my part, I was able to introduce her to my parent though she only talk to them on the phone because my distance is very far from hers. But she knows every one of them from the picture I shared with her. I also ensure I introduce her to the steemit platform and other tools used to work on steemit.

My experience on campus as a new student was very amazing. I was confused at the initial stage, I met a lot of people and friends some of which I didn't continue the friendships with whereas others we continue but were not too serious. The only true friend I had was @yakspeace and she helped me to achieve my dream goal. Finally, I want to invite @josantos and @predomina to also join the contest.
