PRINCIPLES OF GRAPHICS DESIGN (Defined)

By a random search on the popular search engine google, on the 7 basic principles of graphics design and the following were listed out:
Balance
Alignment
Hierachy
Contrast
Rhythm
Proximity
Colour/ Space.

THE FUNDAMENTALS OF GRAPHICS DESIGN EXPLAINED

As a graphics designer your feelings, charisma, emotions are being poured into the design you are doing/ creating. Therefore a good design cannot be created or achieved when you are not in the right frame of mind, explaining The fundamentals given by the random search:

BALANCE:

all kinds of balances are included in this category, emotional balance,physical balance, for example sitting posture,mouse positioning,etc. To buttress the point on posture, even in other works of life posture is a very important factor that affects your work, either writing,drawing, almost everything.

ALIGNMENT

As a graphics designer, you should be conversant with a/or some graphic design software, alignment can only be achieved when the designer understands and masters the UI of his or her graphics design software.
Alignment is the arrangement of texts, objects, jpeg(pictures),in a graphic design, Those are called the elements of a design,now based on how the elements are being arranged in a design, It affects the beauty.

HIERACHY

Reading through this write-up I guess/hope you know what hierachy is but in this context, hierachy is the placing or order at which elements in a design are being placed, it helps convey a message properly on a design, For example: A title of an event is best placed in bold characters, and also colour, such that that particular element is seen as the title, and also use of boxes, shapes,shadows etc, these help to differentiate information from the other.

CONTRAST

It is best Defined as maintaining difference between similar elements in a design. This is a very important aspect that affects your design( beauty) Mostly, For example: The background placed in your design, how to make your text standout, labeling etc.

RHYTHM

Based on my own discovery as a graphic designer, this particular principle is mostly dominated by our emotion, just like I said in the beginning. Also it involves your sequence in colour,variation which strengthens your design's overall look.

PROXIMITY

if you can remember, earlier when I mentioned U/I, As a graphics designer, you are creating a U/I (user interface), Now proximity involves the relationship and nearness in space in your design, most designers normally have problem with this principle, As a designer, your design should have matching colours, enough and not too much (moderate) spacing.
Proximity mostly deals with your design presence.

COLOUR/SPACE

Different colours have their own looks and feelings they emitt which help define the tone of your design, as in your design software you would have a large variety of colours to use and mix to your taste, now some designers also have problems here, where they don't know the colours to use for a particular design, for example using pink for a burial flier, etc so as a designer you should understand the use of colours and it's relationship with the use of the design.
