Introduction
- The University of Nigeria was founded by Nnamdi Azikiwe in 1955 and formally opened on 7 October 1960.
- UNN has three campuses located in Nsukka, Enugu and Ituku-Ozalla,all located in Enugu State.
- It was formerly called the University of Biafra.
- It is ranked as the second best university in Nigeria after the University of Ibadan.
- Students of the university are referring to as lions and lionesses.
- The University has produced alot of great lions. The likes of Herbert Wigwe, Charles Soludo, Emeka Onwuka, Tunde Lemo among others are graduates of UNN and are now notable and successful men in the society. All the facts I stated above were mentioned by a lecture during a public lecture. I will now proceed to outline the documents you need to gain admission into the University.
- Candidates must have at least, 5 (five) Credit grade in five subjects (English and Mathematics inclusive) in their O’level result(s). In the case, O’level result could be WAEC/NECO/GCE or any other equivalent result.
- Candidates must make the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) their first choice of institution during JAMB registration. UNN does not accept second choice candidates for admission.
- Candidates must be 16 years of age at the time admission it offered.
- Candidates are required to score at least, 160 in JAMB UTME examination as that will make them eligible to take UNN post UTME examination.
- Candidates must participate in UNN post UTME examination and must perform very well in the examination in order to be admitted. Source
As soon as soon as you are done writing the post UTME, before coming back from registration here are some really important documents you need to bring back,
- A print out of the section of the admission's list where your name appeared
- Students profile slip which is gotten from the School portal
- Letter of Attestation to be signed by your parents/guardian
- WASSCE/ NECO/ GCE results which ever you wish to use
- Certificate of Origin gotten from your state of Origin
- School fees receipt which you will pay with an RRR
- Letter showing that you accepted the admission
- Birth certificate very important with photocopies
- Post UTME result of the present year exam
- Atleast 16 passport photographs
- JAMB admission letter.
Now about the school environment, equipment and facilities. The University is well equipped with alot of facilities that aid learning, some departments even go on regular excursions and outings for the purpose of study. Here are a few notable buildings.
Here is the Nnamdi Azikiwe library, a very large library where students and lecturers come to do little research and study. It is also well equipped with computer systems and steady WiFi.
Here is the Economics department my department and soon to be yours also. Where all the magic happens. A department filled with bright minds and diligent lecturers who are really dedicated to their jobs.
Here is the Book store where all the textooks and manuals you might use are made available enough to reach everyone. If you also love reading there are alot of novels, encyclopedias, documentaries etc made available at the bookstore that might interest you.
Last but not the least we have the Girls hostel, this is just one of the many hostels. Luckily for you girls have 12 hostels enough to go round and more hostels are being built. This are just one of the few things I can show you when you make your decision.
Conclusion
I believe these are enough reasons for you to want to make the right decision, come and join here. You don't really know much about the igbo culture so this is a good chance to meet and experience them yourself. If you eventually choose to come to UNN, I can reduce the registration stress for you. I would love to invite @stepsbyelven, @emmanuel-malume and @taziba to join me in this contest. I would also advise you read this in desktop site that way you see the true beauty of this post.
My major interest is the Bookstore and the library, I know if I am in the school that it will be my major stop.
