Greetings to everyone, I'm excited as usual to be making my entry on this weekly contest organised by campusconnect. Its my pleasure as always.
Intoduction
The dream of every student aiming to have admission into a tertiary institution is to have the opportunity to study his or her dream course and more importantly, in a reputable institution. This dream when finally achieved, comes with a host of experiences, some good, others ugly.
The school atmosphere
My first year in school was indeed a memorable one, I didn't really know my way around the school, locating lecture venues was a difficult and exhausting task for me. The first two weeks of resumption was the busiest as a newbie. I used it for exploration, making new friends and familiarising myself with the new environment.
As a newbie, I opted for an accommodation in the hostel, the hostel life was fun and porous at the same time. I was no stranger to hostel as I'm a former hostel inductee during my high school days. Unsurprisingly, the university hostel life was quite different, every man for himself, you live life the way you want it without the interference of anybody.
The hostel experience
The hostel life afforded me the opportunity of coexisting with many people from different regions, We were about 20 people in my room. Most nights, we play playstation 3 till daybreak, Midnight arguments and banter were regular practice through out my stay in the hostel.
One annoying thing about the hostel was inability to read inside the room due to noises from loud music and arguments. most times, I usually read by using head phones and ear pods to mitigate the intensity of the noise from causing distraction.
Who were some of the people that you met during your first week in school ?
Most of the people I met during my first week in school were my department guys, we usually walk in a group of three, two boys and one girl, we shared ideas about school, life and religion. We studied together, had each other's back during test and exams. They were indeed amazing personalities.
Another group of people I got accustomed to, were my hostel gees, We joked about everything including life. I was always subject of attack during yabbing spree probably because I was the coolest.
Did you guys turn out to be greater friends in School?
Of course. I'm very good at keeping friends since I don't have much of them. All my 100 level friends remained my friends till this day. Though I later moved out of the hostel in my 200 level, I still maintained close contact with all my hostel gees.
Unfortunately one of my guys dropped out in our 300 level due to some family disputes and financial crisis, but on the whole, we remained best of friends till this day.
Conclusion
Campus life is one of the greatest adventures of my life, discipline is the key in maintaining the balance between social life and academic life in a university environment marred by so many activities, both the good and bad. Though disappointment comes once in a while to remind us that we're still humans and inevitable, our determination made us stood tall.

Why are boys' hostels usually crowded?
Reading through this gives me a nostalgic feeling. Campus life is fun and please tell your yabbers to leave you alone. Steemians now got you covered. 😅
