In times of crisis it is nice to use material from the archive. On a beautiful afternoon in January 2020 I was able to spend a whole time at the fence of our airport and took a lot of pictures. I can now conveniently view and beautify the best of them to present them to you.

For me as a resident of Neuburg, the planes are a familiar picture in the sky, but for me it is always amazing how much effort some spotters make to get here. There are Belgians who drive the 650 km just in the morning to be here on time at 9 a.m., then stay until afternoon and drive back home. Or from Austria, the north of Germany or who have "only" a 200 km journey. Today the trainer was in the sky again and it is the subject of my article.

The multi-purpose combat aircraft has 1 pilot and 1 flight instructor as a crew, it is 15.96 m long, spans the wings to 10.95 m and is 5.28 m high. The empty weight of 11,700 kg can be increased up to a maximum takeoff weight of 24,098 kg using fuel and armament. Officially, the G limits are given as −3 / + 9, the thing flies with a maximum of Mach 2.35, that's about 2500 km/h, and falls from the sky when it is slower than 203 km/h. The two engines can work until a height of almost 20 km, which means it can fly twice as high as normal traffic machines.

In der Zeiten der Krise ist es schön auf Material aus dem Archiv zurückzugreifen. An einem wunderschönen Nachmittag MItte Januar 2020 konnte ich eine ganze Zeit am Zaun unseres Flughafens verbringen und habe eine ganze Menge an Bildern gemacht. Diese kann ich nun in Ruhe sichten und die Besten etwas aufhübschen um sie euch zu präsentieren.

Für mich als Neuburger sind die Flieger ein gewohntes Bild am Himmel, erstaunlich ist für mich aber immer wieder der Aufwand den Spotter machen um hierher zu kommen. Da gibt es Belgier die die 650 km mal einfach so in der Frühe zurücklegen um pünktlich um 9 Uhr hier zu sein, dann bis Nachmittag bleiben und wieder heimfahren. Oder aus Österreich, dem Norden Deutschlands oder welche die "nur" 200 km Anfahrt haben. Heute war wieder mal der Trainer unterwegs und er ist Thema meines Artikels.
