The pharaohs of Egypt won the Africa Cup of Nations semi-final match after a great defensive performance and an excellent penalty shootout over hosts nation Cameroon.

Mohamed Abou Gabal, the Pharoes' backup goalkeeper at the start of the tournament behind Mohamed El Shenawy, was the hero on Thursday night, save two penalties before Clinton N'Jie missed the game-winning penalty.

Egypt has now advanced to their second AFCON final in three seasons, setting up a fascinating meeting between Liverpool talents Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, whose Senegal team advanced to the final after defeating Burkina Faso on Wednesday.

Salah had a quiet game on Thursday night, with only two efforts on target, while Cameroon attacker Vincent Aboubakar - the competition's top scorer with six goals - struggled in front of goal.

When Egypt manager Carlos Queiroz was sent off for losing his cool over the referee's choices, it breathed new energy into what had been a stalemate. Even though he won't be on the sidelines for Sunday's final, the former Manchester United assistant joined in the celebrations when his team triumphed on penalties.

Egypt was the underdog against Cameroon, and they will be again against Senegal. Teranga's Lions have been outstanding defensively, conceding only two goals, with Kalidou Koulibaly, Abdou Diallo, and Edouard Mendy among the defensive stars.

With three goals, Mane has been their major attacking danger, though Marseille's Bamba Dieng has also scored twice. The final will be held in the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde, Cameroon, on Sunday.

La final se ve que estará muy buena, son dos equipos con estrellas en la parte ofensiva y eso estará interesante.

No doubt about that and I believe it will be.
