Manchester United hosted Brighton after the International break. United lost to Leicester City in a cup tie shortly before the international break and they got back to winning ways after a hard-fought victory.

United started on the front foot and Mason Greenwood almost got the lead for United when a cleared ball found him at the edge of the box. He wasted no time and smashed his effort one time but was denied by the frame of the goal in the 9th minute. What a goal that would have been.

In the 13th minute, former United player, Danny Welbeck got in on the end of a brilliant cross and headed it home to give Brighton the lead. He was at the right place and at the right time. Brighton could have gotten a second in the 45th minute if not for the brilliance of Maguire to deny Maupay that golden opportunity. Brighton would have gone in with 2 goals ahead at the break. Moder also failed to find the target from a corner kick with the ball fell to him. He missed marginally despite beating Henderson.

In the space of 10 minutes, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes both came close but it wasn't much of a threat to the goalkeeper. In the 62nd minute, United restored parity when Fernandes ran the length of the field and found Rashford to the side. Rashford hit his effort one time and it was perfectly placed away from the reach of the goalkeeper to make it 1-1.

Bruno struck a lovely shot in the 76th minute that the goalkeeper spilt. It fell to James who laid it off to Greenwood but he skied his effort inside the box. The winning goal came for United in the 83rd minute when Shaw found Fernandes and his ball across the field found Pogba in the box. He wasted no time too and found Greenwood with a shot cum cross. Greenwood got his end to the end of the ball and found the back of the net to make it 2-1.

United fought hard for this victory especially seeing that Leicester City lost to Manchester City. They have opened up a 4 point gap between 2nd and 3rd place and with 7 games to go, United can work on maintaining their top 4 status.

Thank you so much 😭😭😭

Indeed, a hard fought victory. Ole isn't faring so bad and I'm surprised he's getting more boots than Mikel Arteta.

He may not be the best, yet, he's however, done a decent job with this United team.

If people want him to give them the Fergie-esque era, then, they need to give him 25 years. Fergie didn't hit the ground running on arrival.

You have spoken the truth there. He gets the sticks a lot due to some of his unreasonable decisions. Imagine the real chance United had on getting a cup win against Leicester was blown away when he chose to rest players when there would be International match afterwards. He should have played his best hands.

Yeah. I agree with you. Hi decision making most times has been his undoing. The Leicester game was just the highlight.

Do you think he has the chance of winning a trophy this season?

I am not so sure if he can win any trophy this season because the only trophy left for him is the Europa League and that is always tough.

I feel United (even though I don't like to admit... Lol) have a strong chance to win the UEL. The only barrier, IMO is Ole's semifinal jinx. 😁

Hahahaha Ole! So true. He has a way of making crazy decisions to throw things away.

Thank you.

Good to see 3 Manchester United academy players on the score sheet!

Rashford and Greenwood. Absolutely.

The difference between the side was..... Mike Dean. Awful, awful referee whose fragile ego ruins games.

How so?

Celts, Back on his mid cage perch and no52, battling for 8th / 9th but still believe it's the referee's fault.

You lost me with this comment.

great manchester

Great 😊
