Steemian Night Tonight I want to tell you a little about the duku fruit ,,

Duku is mainly grown for its fruit, which is usually eaten fresh. Some are preserved in syrup and bottled. The wood is hard, dense, heavy and durable, so it is often used as a tool and construction material for houses in villages, especially pisitan wood.

Some parts of the plant are used as ingredients in traditional medicine. Duku seeds are bitter, crushed and mixed with water for worm medicine and fever medicine. The bark is used as a medicine for dysentery and malaria; while the flour of the bark is used as a poultice to treat scorpion bites. The skin of the fruit is also used as a medicine for diarrhea; and dried fruit skin, in the Philippines it is commonly burned as a mosquito repellent. Langsat fruit skins in particular, are dried and processed to be mixed in cloves or incense.

As a medium-sized plant, duku grows well in mixed gardens (agroforestry). This plant, especially the duku variety, likes shaded and damp places. In its production areas, duku is usually planted in combination with durian, petai, jengkol, and various other fruit and timber plants, although duku is generally the dominant one.
