Hello STEEMIANS
I hope you are doing well and have a great time. This is my second lecture in this new community. Hope so i will get support in this creative community.
So let's start this post.
What is Digital Art?
Digital Art is an art form that relies heavily on the use of technology in its creation. It has been around since the 70s and is widely used for advertising and film visual effects. Digital Art comes in many forms, usually only computer generated, drawn using different types of software, or digital drawings taken from photographs.
History of digital art:
The first use of the term digital art was in the early 1980s when computer engineers developed a painting program used by master digital artist Harold Cohen. This is known as AARON, a robotic machine designed to create large drawings on sheets of paper. Since this intrusion of artificial intelligence, Cohen has continued to fine-tune the AARON system as the technology becomes more sophisticated.
Digital art can be created on a computer, scanned or drawn using a tablet and mouse. In the 1990s, thanks to the development of digital technology, it was possible to download video to computers, allowing artists to control the images they captured with a video camera. This gave artists unprecedented creative freedom with film, allowing them to cut and paste within moving images to create visual collages.
Philosophy of digital art:
The philosophy of digital art is the study of the nature and rationale of all those forms of art whose production and presentation largely involve computer processing. This first-order investigation cannot proceed without acknowledging the claims made by media and cultural scholars, art theorists and art audiences, about how digital technologies of image and sound are changing our understanding of art, physical representation, and cognitive experience. These claims suggest that the "digital state" (Kittler 1999) creates a loss of trust in the image, a new way of experiencing the world as infinite and fragmented, and the separation of traditional boundaries between the artist and the audience, the work of art and the artistic process. Examining these claims requires a formal understanding of the differences between analog and digital systems and the impact of those differences on aesthetic appreciation. The philosophy of digital art moves from a carefully defined general account of digital representation to an investigation of the precise ways in which different forms of digital art are digital. This leads to further investigation into the ways in which the digital nature of a work of art is relevant to its proper appreciation. By making a systematic analysis of the digital as an important category of art, the philosophy of digital art seeks to reduce the growing interdisciplinary and popular interest in the so-called "digital revolution".
