A MEMORABLE DAY 🔴

The incident happened at the end of my second semester in 200L at health college. We e were informed about a training at the Oyo state institute of occupational health and safety, and there is a need for all students to attend as it is a mandatory course and we are going to be trained and certified as occupational health and safety officer.

We were informed that the duration of the training is two weeks, and at the end of the training, we all are going to be grouped into different teams, each team with a project head, as the project head will be the one to present their group project to the audience on the day of presentation.

We started the training and everything was going on smoothly, and when it was time for the project to begin, I was chosen in my team as the project head.

At the institute, both undergraduates and working-class graduates are allowed to register and attend the training and my group comprises of both students and working-class graduates.

A day was set for the presentation, and we started preparing as a team, but as the day of the presentation was approaching, I became very nervous, being an introvert I find it difficult facing the crowd, but the story has changed now as I now enjoy speaking to a large audience. Teaching and public speaking have now become my passion and calling.😆

A day after the training, I called my team members and I told them they should appoint another project head as I do not think I can do it again, but they disagreed with my opinion and said I must be the one to present for the team.

When I got to my hostel later in the day, as I lay on my two and a half-sized mattress, I started praying to God in my spirit and at the same time I was ruminating on so many things, I said to myself "Dorcas, there is something your classmates and your entire team sees in you before they decided to make you the project head, they knew you have everything it takes to deliver and you cannot afford to disappoint them."

Immediately, my spirit was strengthened and I remembered God's word in Philippians 4:13 which says "I can do all things through Jesus Christ that strengthens me."
I took my project manual and I began to study and practice, after which I prayed and slept.

On the day of the presentation, two team members will accompany the project head to the front for the presentation, all the students, lecturers, and members of the school's governing board were already on seats.

I was the 5th person to present and this allowed me to watch and listen to other presenters as they presented, but I noticed they all presented by reading out from their project manual without looking at their audience that we could not have a grasp of their face till the end of their presentation, I saw this as an advantage as I had prepared so well that I can present everything in my project manual without looking into the manual.

As it reached my turn to present, I prayed in my spirit as I moved forward with my two team members.

I presented all in my manual without missing a point and without peeping through my manual, I presented with boldness and confidence. And as I finished presenting, the moderator asked the audience if they have questions for me, and ❗Alas❗that was the turning point for the day as a man who was not part of the students neither is he part of the lecturers and the governing board, but who just accompanied one of the lecturers to the presentation hall stood up to ask me a question.

The question was a very tough one, two of my colleagues standing with me in the front could not answer the question, but as this was going on, I heard my classmates whispering to themselves that "We have confidence in Fadele, she will answer the question."

As at the time they were whispering these words, I had not yet come to the full understanding of the question, but suddenly, it was as if I had a tap on my brain as I began to respond to the questions to the amazement of all, that both students, lecturers and members of the governing board stood up and started clapping for me including the man that asked the question.

That singular event turned me into an instant celebrity, that after the presentation, both the students and working-class members of the different teams came to me to say "Well done, you did well."

That day remains one of the happiest days in my life, as it is a day I can never forget.

TO GOD ALONE, BE ALL THE GLORY 🙌.

     MORALS OF THE STORY

✅Never remove the God factor in all you do.

✅ Always believe and have confidence in yourself.

✅Never underestimate the power of adequate preparation.

✅Always condition your mind for positivity and possibility as Napoleon Hill said and I quote "Whatever the heart of a man can conceive and believe, it can achieve."

✅Don't allow low self-esteem to take away your shine from you as you are born to shine.

✅Wherever you find yourself, always position yourself as a person of value and impact, as people are watching you.
