There is this story of a poor Scottish farmer who one day heard the scream for help from a nearby shallow swamp - It was a boy who was stuck in it.

The poor farmer was brave enough to rescue the boy from the jaws of death.
The following day, a beautiful carriage with a noble man in it pulled up at the farmer's gate and the noble man turned out to be the father of the boy which the poor farmer rescued the other day.
The nobleman had come to show appreciation to the farmer but the poor farmer refused to accept any form of payment.
That moment, a boy walked through the farmer's gate and the noble man realised the boy was the son of the poor farmer. Realising this, the nobleman decided to strike a deal with the poor farmer.

The deal?
The nobleman was to see the poor farmer's son through school.
The poor farmer accepted.
The poor farmer's son attended the best schools just like the nobleman's son.
The poor farmer's son later graduated from a medical school and turned out to be a renowned and notable man worldwide that he founded a great drug.
Years down the line, the nobleman's son was very sick and diagnosed of pneumonia. It was the great drug (discovered by the poor farmer's son) that saved his life.
That story shows the long term consequential and beneficial effects of being kind.
Kindness is like a seed of investment.
When you are kind, you are planting a seed that you will later reap its investment.
Kindness also has a chain effect of goodness that spreads across people.
In reference to the above story, the kindness of the poor farmer made his son become educated.
The show of kindness of the nobleman also saved the nobleman's son's life.
The same show of kindness led to the discovery of a great drug in the world today.
Always be kind because no kind act goes unrewarded. It's payback might not be immediate but it will surely happen.

Sometimes, it costs us nothing to be kind but that nothing can mean something to someone else, like a phone call, a prayer, a smile, a compliment …. etc.
If you are thinking the above story is a fiction, then you are wrong.

What goes around comes around.
Let's be kind because that is what makes us beautiful.
