Rice water is the leftover water that remains after you cook rice. It is high in carbohydrate, protein, lipids, starch, vitamin A, vitamin c, vitamin e and other organic substances.

Rice water can easily be made at home. There are three ways of making it. They are;
- By Boiling: Get a required amount of rice water and wash it properly with cold water to remove the dirt's and then boil rice in twice the amount of cooking water that you normally use for cooking water. When it is half cooked, strain out the water into a vessel to allow it to cool before storing it in a jar.
-By Soaking: It can be made by washing the rice thoroughly and let it sit in water for 15-20 minutes. Strain the water and use it as desired.
-By Soaking it overnight: After washing your required amount of rice with cold water, soak it in a bowel containing twice the normal amount of water for cooking and allow it to ferment for 24hrs or 48hrs, depending on your choice. Then, strain it in jar and store in the refrigerator.
Benefits of rice water for the health, skin and hair.
For the health;
Rice water helps in improving immunity and thus keeping various kinds of infection and diseases at bay.
It contains 8 kind of aminoacids which help in the prevention of muscular degeneration.
Drinking rice water helps in relieving the symptoms of constipation and other digestive issues due to the nutrients present in it.
For the Skin;
Rice water is great for healing and protecting the skin from the harmful effects if the sun's UV rays and for treating burns.
The high amount of starch in rice water is beneficial in warding off these annoying skin conditions like pimples, acnes, rashes, skin inflammation, etc.
It is loaded with vitamin (A, C, E), phenolic acid and flavonoids which helps in maintaining the elasticity of the skin and provides deep hydration.
For the Hair;
The presence of inositol and carbohydrate, helps in reducing friction, frizz, improves elasticity and makes the hair more manageable and beautiful.

How To Use Rice Water for Skin and your Hair.
For Skin;
As a skin toner: Soak a cotton ball in fermented rice water and gently swipe in your face with it.
As a scrub: You can take some soaked rice and rice water and grind it into smooth paste. Use the smooth paste as a body scrub to get rid of dead skin cells and give a natural radiance and softness to your body.
For Hair;
As a Hair rinse: You can use boiled rice water or fermented rice water for final rinse after shampooing your hair. It used for strengthening and repairing your damaged hair shaft.
As a Shampoo: Add shikakai powder or aloevera juice to a cup of fermented rice water and use it to wash your hair. If you have an irritated or sensitive scalp or suffer from dermatitis, eczema or other scalp conditions.
