Welcome friends to a new #steemitnetwork challenge, this time with the initiative to write a review of our favorite writer. Without thinking much about it, I chose one of my favorite writers, the Chilean Isabel Allende
.
Isabel Allende is one of the Spanish-American writers that I know with more books to her credit. She was born to be a writer.
Most of his works are framed in the genre of magical realism, very popular among Latin American writers of his generation.
He was born on August 2, 1942 in the city of Lima, Peru, his parents were the Chileans Francisca Llona Barros and the diplomat Tomás Allende Pesce, cousin of former President Salvador Allende.
In 1958 the young Isabel settled in Chile and in 1967 she began her work as a journalist and writer for a magazine called "Paula" like her daughter.
In 1975, due to the military dictatorship that settled in Chile, she decided to leave her country and settled in Venezuela, where she wrote her first book "The House of Spirits", which catapulted her to fame and since then, neither In the hardest moments of his life, when his daughter Paula fell ill and died, he has stopped writing.
That fact impacted his life.
She has lived in several countries since leaving Chile and is currently based in the United States.
All his life, his childhood, his experiences, his travels, his fears, his joys have served as fantastic raw material for his books.
Nostalgia for his Chilean homeland is always present in his work, in his protagonists, who transcend the ever-present historical conjuncture, to delve into the intimate, the familiar, sometimes tragic, sometimes romantic, in a style that seems messy but that it is united by the autobiographical, sometimes feminist, sometimes critical, sometimes fantastic.
As in the case of the writer García Márquez, I believe that his family experiences, the difficult stage with his sick daughter and the absence of the beloved Chile, mark the style and prose of this great writer who has transcended Latin American borders thanks to successive reissues and translations of his books.
I invite you to read his works
