The debate week 15: street smart is better than book smart

STREET SMART IS BETTER THAN BOOK SMART

People usually say Knowledge is power but what is knowledge if you don't know how to use it. Many people have the knowledge of how to solve a particular thing but they don't know how to go about it. This now brings us to the debate topic which says book smart or street smart which is better.

Being book smart means having the ability to excel in school or any educational setting. Book smart people usually thrive in a structured environment where they can apply their learned knowledge and problems solving skills but they don't handle real world situations. On the other hand street smart people are those who have the ability and are also experts at handling every situation that comes their way. They tend to create a solution to every problem that comes their way while book smart people only have knowledge of the problem but lack the ability to solve it.

Street smart people may not have the same level of education as book smart people, but they are expert in the real world. Street smart people believe that the best way to learn is by doing it yourself by doing so it makes them have first class knowledge of it.

REASON WHY STREET SMART IS BETTER THAN BOOK SMART

ADAPTABILITY

Let me start by saying book smart people are highly intelligent in their own way but there is only so much you can learn from books. Yes reading books are important but nothing prepares you for life more when you have experience of it and reading books won't give you that experience you need to strive in life.

In the real world things move fast,
things change and you have to be prepared to adjust or react to those change. Only people who are experienced like the street smart people can survive this change.

SURVIVAL SKILLS

I know you might be thinking can't u learn survival skills from book?. Yes, technically you can learn about dangerous people, scams, natural disaster and what action to take when someone is trying to rob you, you can all learn these things from books.


But street smart people have knowledge of areas to avoid, which people that look suspicious because they are experienced about all these things and heard story of all these incident to avoid them from happening to them.

PRACTICALITY

Most street smart people are incredibly practically. Rather than dwelling on theories they have a solid decision and concrete ideas that will help them later in life.

CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING

Being street smart can also make you better at solving problem. They always find a way to think out of the box and learn how to be resourceful with whatsoever they find. They tend to be more creative, vibrant and resourceful in their solution.


In conclusion, in my opinion street smart people are the best people. They have the dynamic character that makes them change or adapt to any environment they find their selves allowing them have knowledge of their surroundings and becoming problem solvers.
