Hello friends,
It's a privilege to share my participation in the contest organized by @sahmie on the topic that says Pen or Sword, who's mightier?. Using the contest tips below, let's look into the topic under consideration.
What is your understanding of the statement "The pen is mightier than the sword" |
---|
The pen is mightier than the sword to me means that dialogue or speech is mightier than war. In cases where there is an issue within communities, it's either it is resolved with a fight or violence or it is resolved with dialogue.
Dialogue is far better than war because in war both sides must lose life and property which is not something good. This can be avoided if only the parties involved agree to dialogue with each other. This is the main reason why I have said that pen which is dialogue is far better than sword.
Can words be more influential than actions? |
---|
In some cases, words are far better than actions. I want to take an instance with the recent happening in our country Nigeria at the moment. We can see the nationwide protest against bad government and the destruction that has been made by protesters.
If the government had been attentive to the Nigerian citizens in the first place they would have not gotten to this stage. So the distractions are a result of the government not paying a listening ear to the masses.
When is diplomacy more effective than force? |
---|
In cases of war or protest where life and properties are at stack, it is better to go with diplomacy instead of force. As I have explained earlier, the situation of Nigeria and Kenya should teach us a big lesson.
In both countries, we saw how properties were destroyed and how some people lost their lives. So both the government and the citizens lost a lot during protests and war and that is why these things must be avoided by all means.
Is a balance between words and actions necessary? |
---|
It is very necessary to have a balance between words and actions. If you have dialogue and it doesn't yield the expected results then you must use force to achieve your goal provided you are on the right track.
People who are standing for the right thing don't need to compromise. You do things the way they should be no matter those who it may hurt at the moment. When you do the right thing they will come back to tell you thank you thereafter.
How has technology impacted this debate today? |
---|
Technology has impacted this debate so much because with the help of technology as of today we have Steemit and it allows us to share our thoughts on the topic. This means that technology has contributed to this argument.
So you will agree with me that technology has played a vital role in helping us all as we have the privilege to read and see each other's publications and also contribute to the topic.
I want to invite @mesola, @ruthjoe, and @bonaventure24 to also join the contest in this community today.
Thank you, friend!
