The Debate (no.35); fiction

Do you know Franz Kafka said that "I think we ought to read only the kind of books that wound or stab us". Sounds weird! But prolific readers know that what Kafka said is the voice of their heart.

They not only want to be amazed, but to be addressed, to be directly consulted. Books can be cruel, the words can cut like the sharp blade of a sword. Although such tone also has the capability to heal, because towards healing, the first step is determination of ailments.

What book is Fiction?

Generally fiction can be considered as fancy of authors or a world decorated according to the desire of a writer. But I think it is reflection of worse reality wrapped in splendid words or truth of society in a tale like a jewel in a diadem.

Stephen King confined the reality of fiction as **"Fiction is a lie, and good fiction is the truth inside the lie.**

What book is Non-fiction?

When an author penned the realism of surrounding without sugar coating can be refer as nonfiction.Such writing is based on facts and figures. In this case, the naked truth is confined in words, and the aesthetics can be avoided.

What makes them different?

Fiction and nonfiction are two separate genres of art. Fiction is wrapped actuality while non-fiction is naked truth.

Fiction or Non-fiction: Which genre do you enjoy more and why?

Fiction is more enjoyable for me. Even the worst feelings or horrible absoluteness are acceptable in fiction. Take the example of Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. If kafka directly penned the level of satisfaction of parents on the death of their young and kamanay vala son which subjected to a disease. Is this acceptable or enjoyable for anyone?
Obviously not at all.

But wait a minute! It is the pen of Kafka. He pulled the curtain of imagination and you can see a young lively man changing into a centipede like thing. The scenario is so creative that on the death of this disgusting creature you can understand the emotions of his parents. Although there are very effective and touchy scenes of the centeped hero, his mother and sister. Obviously, fiction is more relevant and entertaining

Which genre challenges your imagination: fiction or non-fiction?

Fiction is always more thoughts provoking than non-fiction. When you read fiction, your perception and interpretation comes into work. An author who creates fiction never direct you to discover the underlying meaning.

Maybe you though the writing is going with flow ,perhaps the essence of writing is going opposite to flow. Is reading fiction an escape or a learning experience for you? Fiction serves both purposes.

Let's have a look at Khalid Hussani's, The kite runner and The thousand splendid Suns. His masterpieces introduce you to the rich Afghan culture before war and then the tragedies during and after the war. But the perplex storyline is a way to an imaginative world where you are cutoff from reality.

So mostly I prefer fiction over non-fiction.
