PICTURE IS MY OWN

This picture is about 40 years old. Those days we had gone to a famous pilgrimage place "Mata Vaishno Devi" A goddess of Hindus . To reach this place, we had to travel 14.3 km from a place called Katra in Jammu and Kashmir a state of our country. This place is situated at a height of 5200 feet from the sea level . There is only a walking path to reach here, which can be reached on foot or with the help of horses.

We went there on foot with our family. It used to take us about 7-8 hours to complete this journey. It is very cold at that famous pilgrimage, but despite this, thousands of devotees reach there per day..

And to go to the original temple there, everyone has to stand in long lines and wait for hours and then pass through very difficult paths.

The main entry to this temple is through a very narrow and inaccessible cave through a lion's jaw-like shape. Inside this cave, there was ice-cold water till the waist, and its length was about 300 meters. The height of this cave was also not enough, one had to walk in a bent and crooked manner [at present this path has been closed].

When our turn came and we entered it, our eyes were wide open with fear and surprise. Taking photos was also not allowed there, but I took this photo with my small SONY camera.

But I myself could not be in this photo, but my wife, my elder brother, my sister-in-law, her 1-year-old daughter and my young sister-in-law are visible in it.

You can feel the thrill of the place by looking at everyone's wide open eyes. My children and the rest of the family had gone ahead. At that time, about 10 people had gone on this trip.

All my old photographs have been damaged in a flood. I have found this one with great difficulty and fungus has started growing on it too.

One specialty of this place is that despite such a long journey, no one ever gets separated from each other and everyone's belongings are kept safe there and no one even touches them.
