INTRODUCTION

Hello steemians, greetings. I want to begin by acknowledging and thanking the organizer of this contest @sahmie for such a creative debate topic, it will go a long way in helping us access our thoughts.

Rich And Unhappy vs Poor And Happy

Well, I will go with Poor and happy. Many people will say money answereth all things, but definitely not happiness. Happiness is not dependent of material possessions.
While a poor and happy is prioritizing personal health and development, an unhappy rich neglect them.
A happy poor finds meaning and purpose in life but an unhappy rich finds emptiness in life.

Imagine having everything gold and diamonds you wish but then you wake up every morning with a troubled heart, you don't have the sense of contentment, you don't sleep well at nights, you do everything a rich person should do but then you don't feel that inner joy due to one thing or the other that makes you to be unhappy. So why did you aquire the wealth?

The truth is that we all want to be rich because we want to be happy, but then if you become rich and then you are not happy, of what use is the wealth then?
Some people acquire weath because they want to travel around the world and if you check the main reason they want to travel is because they want to be happy, so if you travel around the world with a heavy heart, then why are you travelling?
People want to have fun when they have money, then you have money and you don't feel happy having this fun, then you can agree with me that you are only punishing yourself.
You eat expensive foods, wear fancy clothes and jewelries, buy different brands of cars, buy latest phones, change wardrobe every week, do everything a rich person should do. If you check all these, you did them because you want to be happy, so after doing and having all these and you are not happy then what is the purpose of doing and having them? Absolutely no other purpose, other purposes are all rooted on being happy.

On the other hand, if you are poor and happy you will embrace the joy in little things, you wake up early with a joyful heart, you sleep well at nights, you don't live your life in fears, no fake smiles and you have a feeling of contentment.
To be realistic, everyone have problems then on the other hand, you are happy while being poor, you easily get to solve your problems knowing that outside those problems you are a very happy person unlike being unhappy after acquiring wealth and then you solve the problems with a heavy heart. You get to solve your problems instead of being happy for solving your problem, you still go back to your unhappy life.

Also, health is wealth but wealth is not health.
If you are happy, you will be healthy but if you are unhappy, you won't be healthy no matter how rich you are. You can't be healthy when you have bitterness eating you up from the inside.

CONCLUSION

Everything we do in life is rooted on happiness, so doing things that doesn't make you happy is more of punishing yourself and depriving yourself of happiness all because of wealth.
A poor and happy person will always have fulfillment of life knowing that anyway he dies, he dies a happy and fulfilled man.
Overall, do what makes you happy.
Yes, I take happiness above every other thing.

Happiness is gold

Absolutely @tigerix. Happiness truly serves as the foundation for everything we do in life. Engaging in activities that don't bring us joy is like punishing ourselves and denying ourselves the happiness we deserve, all for the sake of wealth. A person who is poor but happy will always find fulfillment in life, knowing that even in the face of death, they lived a life filled with happiness and contentment. Ultimately, it's crucial to prioritize our own happiness above all else. So, go ahead and pursue what brings you joy, because that's what truly matters in the end. Cheers to choosing happiness.

Thank you 😊
