There are many different dates around the world which are attributed to different things. Some of them are associated with Mother's Day, Daughter's Day, and Labor Day, which falls on May 1st this year. This day is linked to Labor Day in many countries. It's also known as Labor Day.
Today, I'll tell you why May 1st is known as Labor Day and what significant event occurred on that day.

On May 1, 1886, the incident occurred. When workers gathered in the American city of Chicago to demand their rights, police opened fire on them. The incident was brought to the attention of a US court. A criminal case was then filed in this case on June 21, 1886. In this case, no one was allowed to defend himself. In this court, the Attorney General stated that if we want to save this society, we must punish these workers. Five labour leaders have been sentenced to death by a criminal court.

Different sentences were also given to the five workers. Felden and Schwab, two workers, were sentenced to life in prison, one of whom was Renee. He was given a 15-year prison sentence. I took my own life. On November 11, 1887, the workers who had been sentenced to death were executed. Fisher, Parsons, Engel, and Spiers were the names of these labour leaders. One was from England, while the other was from Germany. The first was from Ireland, and the other two were from America. The funeral of these workers was attended by a large crowd, with an estimated six million people in attendance.

A centennial commemoration ceremony was held in France in 1889, and Raymond Living, who was present, proposed that the anniversary of the Chicago workers' death in 1890 be commemorated as a global protest. Raymond Living's proposal was accepted. Following that, the duration of labour duty was universally recognised as 8 hours.

May Day is observed in a number of countries around the world, including Brazil, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Argentina, Bolivia, Cambodia, and China. In various US states, Labor Day is celebrated in the first week of October instead of May. In addition, the Netherlands, Australia, Canada and New Zealand celebrate Labor Day on the first Monday in September. In England, Labor Day is a holiday in addition to banks. And there are some communist countries where Military parades are held on Labor Day.

Our country, Pakistan, also expresses solidarity with the workers. In our country, Labor Day is celebrated on May 1. But now, as time goes by, the importance of Labor Day is diminishing. It is now history. Everything that was in government institutions was also given on contracts and the private institutions do not care about it at all and the trade unions there. Culture is not visible. Labor Day is a very important day in history but it is happening.
