This is my participation in a contest Steemit Learning Challenge-S22W2; Tennis Elbow organized in Steem Physio & Rehab by @ashkhan.

What's tennis elbow? Write in your own words after getting knowledge from the lesson post. (Note: don't add special tests or investigations in this question. Write the answer precisely).

It is also known as lateral epicondylitis. A condition in which pain and inflammation occur on the lateral side of the elbow, most commonly it involves the lateral epicondyle. It also happens, due to micro-tearing of the tendons that attach to the outside of the elbow. The function of these tendons is to connect the forearm muscles which are responsible for extending or lifting the wrist and hand.

This is more common in Tennis players, but it doesn't mean it only affects them. It can occur in anyone who performs repetitive arm, wrist, or hand motions.

How would you diagnose a tennis elbow? Any clinical investigation or assessment tests?

We can diagnose tennis elbow using different methods. Some of them are beautifully described in the lesson.

Tennis elbow diagnosis

Medical History: The doctor will check your routine and activity. He will ask you questions like; Pain or burning on the outer elbow, weakness in the forearm etc.

Physical examination: A thorough physical examination by a physician or physical therapist. He/she will asks you to perform specific movements, such as: Resisted wrist extension test and Middle finger test.

Imaging Tests: You might go through other tests such as, X-ray, Ultrasound and MRI to assess fractures, arthritis, and any muscle or tendon ruptures to find out whether are having Tennis elbow or other disorder.

Try to practice at least 3 exercises that you have learned from the lesson. Share images, gifs or videos while practicing preferably gifs or videos.

Last but not the least is Wrist Isometric Exercises. First one here is applying pressure on the back of your hand, with the other hand. keep it holding and then relax it. Second is applying pressure on your palm with slightly bend your wrist in upward direction. Third one is make a feast, bend your hand and apply pressure in opposite direction. Repeat all these three exercises at least 5 times each.

Share your review after performing these exercises either on yourself, healthy individual or patient.

All the exercises shown here are too good. It really works in strengthening your wrist and forearm muscles. The Wrist Flexors Stretch is my favourite one, and it’s one of my gym workouts. Before starting workout in muscles stretching we would do this exercise. It helps strengthening your wrist and prevent you from wrist injuries.

Although Ball squeezing and Wrist Isometric Exercises are good too. In ball squeezing your wrist get squeeze when you apply pressure and keep your muscles strength. This squeezing helps you in your muscles recovery. Isometric exercise help strengthening the upside wrist muscles.

It has been good experience doing all these exercises and being a daily workout person i know how beneficial they are, and they have the best results.

This is all about my blog for today, hope you guys have enjoyed reading it. See you soon with a new amazing and interesting topic, till take care.

Observations

Task 1 (2.5/3)
You have shared a great knowledge about tennis elbow, its symptoms, cause, but didn't add its types. It would be better to add explanation of the types of tennis elbow. A bit more depth require to complete the answer. I appreciate your effort.

Task 2 (2.6/3)
In the second question, you tell us about how you have to assess a patient by doing physical examination, history taking, special tests and investigations. It would be better to add explanation of special tests and investigations too. Good.

Task 3 (3.4/4)
You try the wrist isometric exercises, wrist flexor stretch, ball squeezing. You did the wrist isometric exercises, ball squeezing, and wrist flexor stretch correctly. But it would be better to keep your hand on the edge of the table or bed for better stretch. Always remember to apply heat pack in chronic condition and ice pack in acute condition before performing exercises to relax the muscles and reduce stiffness. I appreciate your efforts.

Overall you made a great attempt to answer all the questions. I appreciate your efforts. But next time try to avoid the above written suggestions. Keep learning and try to implement your knowledge to the people suffering from tennis elbow or any type of wrist. Thank you.

Dear brother you share such a beautiful article with all of us.
The Analytical Treatment of Insight and Sound Advice!”
You had given such a clear and detailed description about tennis elbow and that how its treatment is done. It was practical how explained and easy to learn ball squeezing, stretching of fingers, and wrist isometric exercises among others. What I noted most was that while detailing about them, you pointed out that they can be used to relieve muscle stiffness, enhance one’s grip strength. Most of these exercises are effective not only in physical therapy but are also useful in keeping the arms in good shape. I really wanted to thank you for this work because your attempt at simplifying this topic had really made it an ideal source of reference for most people.

¡Saludos amigo!🤗
