Good day dear friends and fellow Steemians. I Hope your day is playing out well. Having you here on my blog is pretty exciting. I have helpful tips on how to effectively manage a painful condition that affects the foot is what I have for you today.

What is Plantar Fasciitis? Write in your own words after getting knowledge from the lesson post.

This is a condition that causes foot pain, it often affects the heel and bottom of the person's foot. It occurs when those band of tissues that supports the arch of the foot, becomes inflamed or irritated.

Possible Causes

  • Some shoe are so poorly designed that such that it could lead to problems with the band of tissue that supports the arch of the foot.
  • it can come as a result of overuse from running, jumping, or repetitive strain on the heel and foot.
  • This foot problem is a more common problem among people who are over 40, so we can include ageing among possible causes.
  • Extra load due to obesity can put additional strain on the heel and foot.
  • Maintaining poor posture and abnormalities such as a person that has a flat feet or high arches can affect the way the foot functions, resulting in this condition.

How would you diagnose a plantar fasciitis? Any clinical investigation or assessment tests?

Diagnosis starts with the observation of symptoms like pain in the heel of the affected foot when standing or walking. It sometimes comes as pain in the bottom of the foot, especially in the morning or after resting, showing as swelling or redness around the affected areas which causes stiffness when walking, climbing stairs, or standing for an extended period of time.

To be sure, you will need an x-ray or MRI of the foot and a medical history to tell if it is a condition that is inherited in the family.
In spite of all these signs and symptoms, the "pathognomonic symptom" for plantar fasciitis is that heel pain that is worst when you take the first steps in the morning. This symptom is often referred to as the "first-step pain" or "morning heel pain."

Try to practice at least 3 exercises that you have learned from the lesson. Share images, gifs or videos while practising.

  • Resting the affected foot and applying some ice to reduce pain and inflammation have proved helpful.
  • When possible, and within your means, it would be a good idea to use some custom made orthotics or shoe inserts to support the arch and reduce strain on the plantar fascia
  • Stretching and exercising have proved to be effective in relieving tension on the affected foot, ankle, and leg.
  • Using physical therapy to improve foot mechanics and reduce pain while taking pain relievers, such as ibuprofen
  • In severe cases, a surgery may be the last resort to release the plantar fascia and relieve tension.

Placing the affected foot on a round surface like a foam roller, tennis ball, or golf ball androlling it back and forth can be very helpful in alleviating plantar fasciitis symptoms.

This technique helps to stretch the plantar fascia, reduce tension and inflammation, and break up adhesions and scar tissue.

Getting a good foot massage with oil is incredibly beneficial for plantar fasciitis. Intentionally and systematically delivering deep, slow strokes will relax the plantar fascia muscles and tendons in the foot, improveing blood flow and circulation, which can help to reduce inflammation and promote healing.
A good massage releases endorphins to help alleviate pain and discomfort.

Share your review after performing these exercises either on yourself, healthy individual or patient.

Immediately after a good foot massage, the plantar fasciitis sufferer said they could feel a sense of release and loosening of tension in both their muscles and tendons of the affected foot. It reduces the pain and discomfort felt in the heel and at the bottom of the affected foot.
A good massage creates a sense of relaxation and calmness, as it helps reduce stress and anxiety, giving the sufferer improved flexibility and a good range of motion in the foot and ankle.

I am calling on @josepha, @eliany and @bela90 to join this challenge as it is about health and fitness. I have learnt a lot about this condition and its remedy.

Hi! It is important to prevent this terrible pain, although there are many beautiful shoes, some of them usually have a very bad shape for our foot, so it is better to pass by in those cases if we don't want to wake up with our sore foot :'/

Have a nice day!

Thank you for understanding the lesson and sharing your assignment; I hope that you will enjoy this week's lesson and try to implement it in your life if you see any such case.

Observations

Task 1 (2.3/3)
You have shared a good knowledge about plantar fasciitis, causes, but you didn't add causes and it's types. More depth require to complete the answer. I appreciate your effort.

Task 2 (2.7/3)
In the second question, you tell us about how you have to assess a patient by doing physical examination and history taking, performing investigations but you didn't mention specialized tests. It would be better if you add special tests like windlass test, big toe extension, ankle dorsiflexion test and many more. Great.

Task 3 (2/4)
You try the ball rolling and foot massage. But you have to perform 3 exercises at least from the lesson. You perform only on exercise and massage or soft tissue is necessary for every condition. Always remember to cold therapy & rest is the best therapy in the treatment of plantar fasciitis. I appreciate your efforts.

Overall you made a great attempt to answer all the questions. I appreciate your efforts. But next time try to avoid the above written suggestions. Keep learning and try to implement your knowledge to the people suffering from plantar fasciitis or any type of heel pain. Thank you.
