Dholes do not have a very long term social structure with strong alpha male leading the pack for long periods of time. Instead the alpha male and female in a dhole pack are the ones who only breed but the pack composition is very dynamic with members leaving the pack quite easily and forming their own packs. Sometimes consisting of only two individuals. Sometimes the pack becomes large consisting of more than 35 individuals.
