Question 7

Category: πŸ₯‡ Steemit Awards 2024 πŸ₯ˆ

With categories for Best Teacher, Best Learner, Best Contest Creator and Best All Rounder, the Steemit Awards gave users the opportunity to highlight the users that shone on the platform throughout 2024 and to demonstrate to them that they haven't gone unnoticed and that we appreciate them.

With this in mind, according to my data -

How many users nominated themselves?

(Note 1: MY data, therefore there may be unintentional errors)
(Note 2: Users who nominated themselves for more than one category only counts as one self-nomination)

I found that 31 users out of 80 nomination posts have nominated themselves (yes, I counted them all 😴)

βœ… I also made it 31. Although I count 106 nomination posts. (Excluding those which were so incomprehensible that I had to ignore.)

Are you in a team or playing solo?

Loading...

Yep, 112 posts in total under the #steemitawards2024 tag! I guess I was too sleepy there.

I’m going in solo mode! πŸ±β€πŸ‘€

That makes sense. Some of them were totally unrelated to the tag (and received a Gorilla downvote for wasting my time) and some were incomprehensible.

I'm surprised that was only 6 though. It felt like more πŸ˜…

28 obvious self-nominations...

For some, you would not even have had to open the article... soooo embarrassing... πŸ˜‚

Hope you didn't mean those who nominated themselves with alt accounts, I'm not so sure about one...

πŸ‘Ž I had 31.

You mean the alt accounts that were inactive for months before nominating the same Pakistani users and have been inactive since?

No, I don't count them πŸ˜†

31, actually 33 - I only wrote 28, probably because I only took an hour to skim through all the posts and didn't keep a list. No matter which result is correct, they are all pretty awful!

Yeah, for example. But my favourite was the one with three no-name-0.0 votes and one booming vote (so 4 votes in total...). One of the nominees was the user whose posts this no-name account liked to resteem. I wonder if he also suggested the booming vote? That can't have happened, can it????
One user was really good (because he was very honest): He said that in order to nominate a Lerner, he would have had to read the learner articles. He hadn't done that, so he could only nominate himself. Logical! And honestly... :-))
I also liked the post in which only one user was nominated: Our sainted Kelvin. Shortly after, well...
And the one (the last one) you forgot to count was very tricky: he didn't mention his own nickname with @, but he did mention the two users who supposedly advised him to name himself. This self-nomination can only be recognised by the fact that he made himself a crown with a crochet doily... ;-)
And so on and so forth...

By the way, I would have answered the following two questions correctly off the top of my head without a list. I'm just too slow (or simply not online all the time...)

Some of these people probably need revisiting. I saw that our Saint had been nominated too. As had other scammy scum bags. One of the people who received a lot of nominations for best learner was recently caught using AI to generate comments. I told him that this was a good learning opportunity for him and advised the Steemit Team against giving him an award. I wonder when they'll announce the winners. Despite receiving no nominations, I think I've got a good chance of winning the Best Teacher award. I've taught lots of people a lesson. You have too. You're a good teacher.

Maybe I should ignore the rules and nominate myself now. And you.

Some of these people probably need revisiting

Don't! It's no fun.

recently caught using AI to generate comments

Ja, I saw it. Only very bad people would suspect - after long, long thinking about it - that this person is not just looking for technical help for comments... Oh, how I hate those "Please forgive me"-staements!

Despite receiving no nominations

What might be the reason for this?
Is it possible that the over 100 users who have participated don't see you? Or do they prefer not to attract your attention with a mention... ;-D

Oh no! Now there will be an outcry! You've been elected even though nobody nominated you. Hahaha, we both knew it all along: it's all fake, all collusion, all nepotism... ;-)))

Or do they prefer not to attract your attention with a mention... ;-D

I thought I'd get at least one of these 🀣

Having said that, @ rme didn't get any nominations either 😲

You've been elected even though nobody nominated you.

Then, I could wait a couple of months and confess to being steemcurator. That would be funny. Alas, I suspect that I won't be winning any prizes 😒

I think you have a very, very good plan! It's not that difficult to implement, since a whole lot of submissives already believe that you are anyway... ;-D
Go for it! I'm going to have a lot of fun - NO joke!
Prizes? Who cares about the big prizes? You win the grand prize of hearts!

Go for it!

Oh boy! Do I have to go through with this??

NO

Nominating yourself now is late but if you had done that before due date, it doesn't mean you flagged the rules, self nomination was accepted, it was as if they knew that most people wouldn't get nominated by others, I waited till dire minute and not a soul mentioned meπŸ˜‚,

The choice of the best teacher was directed to those who taught in the learning challenges, quite funny but what would have been your description if you had nominated yourself, maybe you should apply in 3 weeks time to teach us something, myself, karian and chriddi would love to learn those analytical skills...

Β  Β· Β 2 days agoΒ

chriddi would love to learn those analytical skills...

No, that is incorrect. I've been swearing by my instincts for years. If I need proof, I have friends (including the Gorilla) in my network who will do the job. In return, I do something else for them. That's the Steem: give and take...

I do something else for them

I need a new front step. I've got the bricks, slabs, builders sand. Could you pick up a bag of cement and pop over tomorrow? Cheers.

33

πŸ‘Ž My Spreadsheet says 31 - although it's possible that the posts which were completely incomprehensible were self-nominations!

24

πŸ‘Ž It's not 24 and somebody else now has the correct answer.

32

πŸ‘Ž So very close. I made it 31.

My eyes must be be decieving me then. I even had to count it more than 2 times this morning. That was time consuming!

Alas! I still got it wrong... πŸ€”

I got it wrong too! Pennsif was correct with 33 so I've updated my data to reflect this.

It was a gruelling couple of hours last night going through them all - but I got a list in the end...

Checked them again this morning, and I'm hanging in with 33.

It was a gruelling couple of hours last night going through them all

Gulp!

I put the nominations into a Spreadsheet as I went along so that I could analyse the data. Some of it is very telling. I deleted the column which said "Inactive" (i.e. accounts which had been inactive for months before and inactive since their nomination) - a decision that I'm now regretting!
