Contest: My best friend in high school

Hello guys, happy new month from Lagos Nigeria. It's a beautiful month for us all. I pray we experience our heart desires this month. It's another opportunity to participate in another beautiful contest Steem4students by @ruthjoe.

In this contest we had been asked to talk about our high school best friend and how he/she inspired our lives. If you missed the Contest post, you can have it here.

Friendship is one thing that is inevitable as long as humans are concerned, even among animals we also see friendship. There must be that one person that you share your ideas, pains, happiness, secrets, flaws with, and that is a friend. There are friends that sticks closer than a biological sister and brother. Your best friends can go any extent to help you in time of needs. A good friend is actually a gift. I've got that kind of friend when I was in school and her name is Miss Alice Ibekwe.

Did you have a best friend? What is/was his name?

Yes I had an amazing best friend when I was in school and she is still my best friend till date.
Her name is Miss Alice Ibekwe @avrich. She actually joined steemit but couldn't continue due to the busy nature of her job.

Where did you meet and how did you meet?

We met 2012, that was our first year in school.
We met in a church program that we were invited.

Then I was studying Banking and Finance while she was studying business administration. Someone came to my class to speak and invite I and my course mates for a program, likewise her class, someone also went to speak in her class and invite them for a program which was to hold by 5pm that day.

We all came for the program, over 500 in attendant. After the first day of the program, we were asked to come back the next day for the program, majority of my course mates and hers didn't come back. After the second day, we were asked to also come back the third day which I did and by then, the number had drastically reduced. Then we were invited to come for a Thanksgiving Program on a Sunday, which we did, it was from there that we got to know each other and became friends. After that thanksgiving, almost everyone that came from my class and hers couldn't continue, but we kept going and encouraging each other and till date we had been attending same church with joy.

Does she/he inspire you?

Yes she inspire me a lot. Her faith, courage, mindset, love, care, her life style generally inspire me.

First before she came to school, she had lost her father long time ago. Her mum was of age, and her uncle had promised to train her. She worked with the uncle in his hospital for years, and after everything the uncle disappointed. She managed to gain admission in school not knowing how she was going to go about school, buy text books/hand outs, pay school fees and even graduate.

But one thing I saw in her was faith, courage and resilience. She is really a very strong woman. She believed God beyond every reasonable doubt. At some points things were very difficult for her to even eat. Then she had to go help her sister who had a mini kitchen so she can be getting daily food there. Once we are done with lectures, she would go help the sister in her kitchen.

After a while God gave her a favour with a senator and the senator introduced her to Aba Sports Club Officials for her to come do same thing her sister does, that was the starting point of her breakthrough. And till date that business had been growing and taking her to meet different dignitaries, and her financial life had changed drastically for better.

Now she not only have money to support herself, but she also has money to train other persons and support them.

What best food does he like?

Her best food is vegetables and fruits. She doesn't joke with fruits, and she makes sure there is an atom of vegetable in everything she eats. She is not a heavy eater though, she eats bits by bit. She believes in eating small quantity 5 times than eating heavy 3 times a day.

Are you still communicating with him?

Yes we still communicate well, though not often due to her busy nature of business. But once in a while we talk and chat. We are not in the same. It's though, but each time we attend a national program together, we try to hang out and gist to cover up for the long distance. And she is really fun to be with.

The above picture is myself and @avrich when we had a national program, we had to hang out with another of our friend @ceendy20 when she was pregnant for her baby. We had fun that day though.

Just say some fun things about your friend and every other thing you want to tell us about your best friend.

She is actually very fun to be with, she loves stories and she loves singing. Those days in campus, we had to form a music group of 5 Ladies. It was because of her love for music that we formed that group. Then we were having invitations to come sing in meetings and programed inside the school. It was so fun then. Just that the other ladies we were working with were not focused so the group couldn't grow beyond then.

There is another very striking thing about her those days, each time we go for a major Program maybe outside our city and we exhaust the money we came with, while traveling back to our city, she would believe God that we will definitely get to our destination without asking anyone for money. So on our way maybe walking to the bus park, she must pick money on the way that would take us to where we are going. She had picked money several times, and they all come once we are stranded. It was strange but unique.

Conclusion
Friendship is very beautiful. I value friendships a lot. A Friend will always be there when there is nobody. A good friend will always be there when you are messed up and everyone avoided you, she will stand with you until you are back to your feet. And this my friend had done that for me a lot. I don't trivialize friendships.
