In Chittagong, the hosts collapsed for 159 and 143 all out, giving South Africa their largest Test victory by a wide margin.

After forcing the follow-on and dismissing the hosts for 143 on day three of the second Test in Chittagong, South Africa crushed Bangladesh by an innings and 273 runs to complete a 2-0 series sweep.

The Proteas took a commanding 416-run lead after ordering the hosts to bat again on Thursday, and Seamer Kagiso Rabada destroyed Bangladesh with five wickets as they skittled the hosts for 159 in their opening innings.
Following a similar collapse, Bangladesh was bowled out in the evening session after losing the opening match by seven wickets in Dhaka. Keshav Maharaj took 5-59 while fellow spinner Senuran Muthusamy collected 4-45.

At the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, 16 Bangladeshi wickets were lost during the day.

As Bangladesh continued to falter in the first innings, Rabada removed Najmul Hossain Shanto for nine, Mehidy Hasan Miraz for one, and Mahidul Islam Ankon for a duck to finish with 5-37. Dane Paterson also removed Mushfiqur Rahim for naught.

Mominul Haque made 82 as the hosts, who started the day at 38-4, rallied from 48-8, but Muthusamy dismissed him soon after lunch, ending his 103-run ninth-wicket partnership with Taijul Islam.

After a defiant thirty, Taijul became the second victim of Maharaj, proving he could not annoy the tourists any more.

Even though Shanto scored 36, Ankon scored 29, and Hasan Mahmud, who was undefeated at 38 in the dying light, made a late surge, South Africa was even more merciless in the second innings to ensure a straightforward victory in three days.

In their opening innings of 575-6, South Africa's three batsmen—Tony de Zorzi (177), Tristan Stubbs (106) and Wiaan Mulder (105 not out)—all achieved their first Test hundreds.

Rabada won the player of the series title, while De Zorzi was named the player of the match.

The first Test was won by the tourists by seven wickets.

In 16 tries, Bangladesh has never defeated South Africa in a Test match.

When the Proteas play Pakistan and Sri Lanka in two Test matches each at home beginning in late November, they hope to increase their prospects of making it to the World Test Championship final the following year.
