What is boredom?
Boredom is actually the state of mind in which someone becomes bored. The word "bored" is the actual word here. It can be defined as a state of mind when someone is slightly restless or annoyed at something. Boredom happens when someone has nothing to do or is depressed.
Boredom is naturally normal in every human's life. Everyone gets bored at some point, and it has nothing to do with want or lack of anything but is purely a mood swing. It's harmless too; however, the level at which you handle it will determine how long and how far it will last.
Causes of feelings of boredom
The feeling of boredom is caused by a series of reasons. These reasons range from the surroundings in which one is staying to a sudden change of mood and, most commonly, when there's nothing to do. Below are the regular causes of boredom.
📍Having nothing to do/ having much to do:
This is very common, and I guess it's self-explanatory, right?
An idle person is exposed to constant boredom. On the other hand, constantly working with little or no rest at all leads to fatigue, which in turn leads to boredom.📍Poor time management:
When one mismanages or abuses their time, therefore procrastinating things they ought to do when due, they end up being bored because of their failed schedule.📍Unsatisfied by an activity:
It's also very likely for someone to feel bored after being unable to carry out their planned activity perfectly. A perfect example is a steemian who fails to publish a professional, standout post and, as a result, ends up not getting support; such a person will suddenly become bored.📍Lack of control over daily activities:
Boredom occurs to anyone who lacks control over their daily schedules. When some of the daily planned activities aren't met or are met inappropriately, it's likely that they will be bored.
How I overcome boredom and the activities I do
As previously stated, boredom feelings occur to every human and ain't left out either. However, I have my own ways of curing boredom. These are as follows:

Yes! For the sake of truth, this has to come first.
Just like everyone, including the nonlezy, I do make use of my bored moments by sleeping, since it energizes the body and resets lots of negative feelings.✓I watch new videos
Some of the videos I do consider watching when I'm bored are mostly comedies and DIY tutorials. At least I laugh away my negative feelings and also learn about a new thing.✓I take a walk
One of the things I do to cure boredom when I don't want to sleep or watch videos is to stroll down the road for a walk. I choose a different area every time, and in this case, I observed a lot of new things while strolling.
Tips to prevent or overcome feelings of boredom
In as much as I believe boredom is real and occurs to every human, and that they have their respective ways of managing it, I still believe that it's better to prevent being bored since the feelings in most cases aren't friendly. As the saying goes, prevention will always be better than cure.
These are my common tips to prevent getting bored.
🎗️Always stay active.
In some cases, staying active can even lead to boredom, but it's better to understand that staying active eliminates more ways of getting bored. It's always right to choose the majority.🎗️Always love yourself and what you do
Be contented. It's so obvious that having feelings of inferiority leads to boredom. Inferiority here is when you're having feelings of low quality or standard. When you love yourself and every work of your hands, you won't be subjected to oppression towards other people's, therefore leading to boredom.
Conclusion
Boredom is just a state of mind, but when not properly handled, it results in deep psychological effects. Boredom leads to the feeling of having less or no hope for the future; this is how much boredom affects you negatively.
Always find a reason to smile, regardless.
