February 21 is International Mother Language Day. The beautiful greenery of our native land is full of chirping sounds of various birds. In one word it can be said that Bangladesh is a wonderful country. In 1952 East Pakistan wanted to replace our Bengali language and make Urdu the state language. At that time, some of our youths of Bangladesh started this movement. Many students were killed and injured in police firing.

Later, in 1999, the United Nations gave the culture to celebrate February 21 as International Mother Language Day to commemorate them. On this day, we along with Bengalis from West Bengal went out to Shaheed Minar with bare feet and flowers in the morning. At that time only one song plays in our mouth, heart and soul. The song I am talking about is the song of my brother's blood dyed Ekushey Februari ki bhulite pari son hara hundred mother's tears gaday February ki bhulite pari.

This song resonates in everyone's heart and everyone pays tribute to the martyrs at Shaheed Minar. At this time, many flowers of Phalgun bloom on the trees of Bangladesh. Everyone walks in a line barefoot on winter mornings and gives flowers to the Shaheed Minar installed in schools, madrasas or government institutions. Shaheed Minar is less seen in our village area so during our time we made Shaheed Minar out of banana tree and bamboo. On February 1st, the Kriya competition started immediately after laying flowers at the Shaheed Minar.

These action competitions are held in every area from rural areas to urban areaseen, all these types of festivals are seen in abundance from rural areas to urban areas. Similarly, today the students of Dhaka University of Fine Arts have decorated the streets and a Shaheed Minar beautifully with their beautiful handiwork and alpana. Friends once again greetings and congratulations on our great International Mother Language Day.
