It's another beautiful day of the week and I'm glad to participate in this contest organized herein this community which talks about "Greening my village". This is indeed a wonderful contest which educates us about plants and their importance.

What is the meaning of greening and its benefits?

Greening in a layman's understanding means having places filled with green plants be they flowers and trees or even grasses. From the concept of this contest, greening is the act of growing plants to support human existence since plants are helpful to man.

When a given environment is greenish i.e. filled with plants be it trees or flowers or grasses, there is always a good flow of oxygen in that arena and that is one of the major importance of greening the environment to man.

So planting trees and other plants that will end up growing and becoming greenish is what is called greening and it helps to provide shelter and oxygen to man in every period and time.

What is the important role of reforestation in preventing floods and landslides?

Reforestation is the act of planting trees. This plays an important role when it comes to the prevention of floods as well as landslides in any area we see ourselves. Trees as we know help to reduce the velocity of the wind that blows in every area and also prevent erosion and other natural disasters from taking place in an area.

Since tree planting prevent lots of natural disasters because they keep the wind from becoming excessive, flood and landslide have also been taken care of by this very act. So that is the importance of reforestation to the prevention of floods and landslides.

Yes, of course, I can show the greenery in my village because here in my village we are blessed with trees of plantain and banana which are always greenish year in and year out. With this, there is always much oxygen and air in my area.

You know that plants bring in good ventilation to man and for that reason, people in my village here always engage their selves in planting the economic trees banana and plantain which in turn gives them good money when the plant produces many fruits.

I have plans to plant my plantain and banana trees soonest once I get land of my own since it is mostly a long-investment. So until then, I will continue to help and grow my parent's own.
