The topic today says "Why should there be a President?", this is a wonderful topic to discuss because it is a practical thing that everyone must have experienced or seen in his or her nation.

Aside from our nations, in our little gatherings or meetings, we have our leaders who are elected into the position of the preside, and others just so they can oversee the affairs of the group. In this contest today, I will be using the tips below to answer the given question.

What does the election of the Head of State (Election) mean to you?

Election is the process of voting for your leader as it is done in democratic settings, where the people are the ones to choose a leader for their selves. So the election of the head of state is a big event that determines who leads the state for the next couple of years.

In Nigeria, the election is held every 4 years, and recently around March, we had the election of the president of the country where different candidates contest, and the one with the highest vote was declared the winner of the election.

So the election of the head of state means a period to decide if you want to elect the right people or not because they will do their manifestos and you will see what they are planning to do for the state. It's an important time and everyone should always participate in it.

Why does the president have to exist?

The president has to exist because a country with a leader doesn't move forward easily. Every place that has a leader has some sort of structural control and things are not being done anyhow in such a place.

A president stands as a representative of all the members of the country and if there is anything like a world meeting, the president represents his people since everyone can not go to the meeting.

The president has to exist because the state or country needs a figure they can look up to at all times. The president is to look for the welfare of the people by providing for their needs at all times.

What are the criteria for a Head of State/President that you like?

One of the major criteria I like for the president is that the election is done by the people and only those who have the highest vote win the position of being the president.

Another criterion I like is that before you are elected, you must have gotten at least your secondary education which means you can read and write and can be able to represent your people well out there.

Finally, before being elected as the president, you must have been satisfied free from every charge because for the country to grow we need an upright person not someone with a bad record to his or her name.
