Steemit Engagement Challenge - S6W4: The Skills I want to learn (Graphic Design)

Hi steemians,
I welcome you all to the fourth week of this season's engagement challenge. This will be my entry number one in this week's contest and I'm delighted to start with the contest hosted here in this community. This is indeed a wonderful topic and it aims at everyone revealing his dreams as to what else he/she wishes to learn. Let's get started.

The skill I want to learn is called Graphic Design. As a computer scientist, I have seen various aspects of computing that make work beautiful and one of the aspects that attract users more to any application or program is the physical view and the colour mixture.

As I have stated earlier, I'm a computer scientist and my speciality is backend programming. Most times, after working on a site which has its front end completed, the majority of times, I see that the colour and the way things are kept are just ao perfect but in my case, I want a situation where I can work on these things completely alone I.e both the frontend and the backend.

Most times it is as though I don't have eyes for good design. Because if after I have proposed a particular design and also made the system functional by using my PHP and JavaScript code, a front-end designer will come and then condemn the entire colour and the way I kept everything.

Though, criticism is allowed in this field as it is the only thing that will help you as a person to improve more. So I want to learn graphic design so that I don't need to depend on a front-end developer before I can fully make a workable system for myself and the public at large in the future.

There are various ways to learn these skills but due to my tight schedule, I have only restricted myself to one way and that is via YouTube videos. We all know that eventually everything you wish to learn in this life is seen online. Hence, I have dedicated myself to learning these designs daily by watching at least one tutorial on youtube and also trying to make the design myself.

Practice indeed causes improvement. I started this graphic practice not more than two weeks today and I must say I have been able to learn most of the basis in it. The use of various colours and where to apply them is also one thing I have learnt.

Others can learn these skills by enrolling in offline classes which to me is more effective because you get to ask questions and get instant replies. Since these classes are set up purposely for these activities.

Well, at the moment, due to my tight schedule both online and offline, I have restricted myself to YouTube tutorials alone. I'm not free enough to enrol in the offline classes because my activities within this period are very hectic. I won't say that this has stopped me completely from learning the skills but the rate of my success or progress as regards learning the skill is quite low because such a thing needs complete dedication.

For you to be successful in life, you must always seek to learn more. Learning is a continuous process and no one knows it all but learning more daily causes much improvement. As a backend developer, I'm not satisfied with that alone, I need the front-end skills to be able to present something that everyone will see and admire before looking at the functionalities.
