The SC has dismissed the plea of Mukesh Singh, convict of Nirbhaya.

The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition of Mukesh Singh, an accused in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case.

The convict on Monday demanded immediate hearing of his plea. However, the apex court said that it would hear the petition on 16 March.

Earlier, the apex court had dismissed the plea of the guilty Mukesh Singh against the rejection of the mercy petition by the President, stating that all the related records, judgments of the courts, were kept by MHA before Ram Nath Kovind.

The apex court then stated that there was no merit in the dispute.

The SC said, "The victim in jail cannot be made the basis for challenging the rejection of mercy petition by the President."
