The science behind electric vehicles

Electric vehicles (EVs) are electric machines which use an electric battery to power electric motor. EVs do not rely on a burning of fossil fuel internally, but receives power from a recharge lithium-ion battery, which is basically a battery used in mobile phones but on a larger scale. These batteries are able to power electric motors which in turn change electric power to mechanical power for the wheels.

EVs are energy-sufficient in nature while traditional vehicles convert only 30-35% using energy from gasoline engines, motion utilizing about 77-82% of the energy from the battery. There are also Regenerative braking systems which increase the efficiency of the vehicle by aiding to pack energy missed out when braking into battery.

The move towards EVs end up reducing emissions meant for the air which reduces atmospheric pollution and greenhouse gases. But potential risks are still present such as inadequate charging systems and volume of batteries produced and their recycling issues impacting the ecosystem.
