Deceivers usually take advantage of the trust applied by others, through lies, manipulation or otherwise. Although they may seem friendly and wet-blanketed in most situations, their self-interest overrides their concern for others. They use tactics such as avoiding the truth, twisting the facts or lying in order to vanipulate or fool others. This behavior will result in feelings of loss of trust, damage to their image as well as destruction of relationships, for not only them but for people around them as well.
To some, deceit may come from a place of fear struggle, insecurity or wanting control, others may have a larger moral issue with petty deceit. Either way, any deception, no matter how small, is bound to affect the parties involved. With the passage of time, such erosion of trust puts a barrier on utilizers or manipulators of deceit into the core of genuine interpersonal relationships and endurance of these relationships.
