Boasting stunning green irises and a sharp dark feather coat, the cormorant is a breath taking bird in and around lakes and coastlines and is found all around the world. Found mostly around deep waters because of its extraordinary diving capabilities, the cormorant is a fierce predator with splendid alignment skills when capturing fish hidden below water surfaces. Additionally, its aerodynamic physique along with its webbed feet greatly enhances its swimming capabilities thereby allowing it to hunt down its targets very fast.

Often times, cormorants can be found on rocks or tree branches, their wings wide open towards the sun, which has given the species its rather unique definition. However, unlike many birds, cormorants are not born with waterproof feathers, hence its exposure while hunting requires it not to only spread its wings but to also dry them in sunlight after immersing into the water body which leads to its fishhunter identifiable surfaces against lake boundaries.

They concentrate on cleaning their surroundings by eliminating any fish overdoses present and also enhance the quality of their environment which indicates effectiveness in their predator approaches. Healthy populations of cormorants are signs of a healthy ecosystem as cormorants flourish in pollution free waters.

Most birdwatchers and nature lovers are drawn to the cormorant for its fascinating habits and aesthetic appeal. Watching these birds in the wild sheds light on the dependable engine of life that exists around the lakes, thereby emphasizing the need to appreciate nature.
