In the past few hours, the new Super League has been a talking trend that has left the whole football community in turmoil.
The Super League has been in discussion since the early 90’s, it was initiated yesterday and plans have been made to officially commence in August, according to the Super League President, Florentino Perez. This is one of the greatest fantasies come true. Some twelve (12) of the greatest elite clubs have joined this new league. The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus have all committed to this league.
According to Fabrizio Romano's tweet, a famous football journalist;

“Clubs are set to receive €3.5Billion for their infrastructure investment plans and to offset the impact of the COVID pandemic.”

Unfortunately, The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) are not happy about this new “cynical project". The UEFA expressed their concerns, in a statement they issued, that threatened to ban all clubs that are linked to this league. From UEFA the statement;

“As previously announced by FIFA and six confederations, the clubs concerned will be banned from playing in any other competition at the domestic, European or world level and their players could be denied the opportunity to represent their national teams.”

Though, UEFA has not taken any measures to officially cancel the Champions League and Europa League, temporarily. Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid may not feature in next seasons Champions League. Currently, UEFA is yet to decide the sanctions for the clubs involved in the Champions League and Europa League

In my opinion, all clubs should be given equal opportunity because, the Super League only seeks to support the elite clubs and does not show any legitimate help to the smaller clubs. With this, the smaller clubs are not given the opportunity to grow and this is biased.
