EUROs 2020 ONE-EIGTH ROUND IN ONE SCOPE!

What a marvellous game week it has been! The matches have been very just beautiful to watch. All the unexpected have happened. Majority of the giants of Europe have exited the competition. Quite unfortunate, isn’t it?

Portugal 🇵🇹, Germany 🇩🇪 , France 🇫🇷 , Netherlands 🇳🇱 , Croatia🇭🇷, Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿, Sweden 🇸🇪 and Austria 🇦🇹 have all been knocked out of the competition.

Czech Republic is one of the teams nobody would have thought could score the Netherlands team not even in a hundred years. Everything was well under way when the Dutch and Juventus Defender, Matthijs De Ligt, was given a red card. From there, it all went down hill and the game saw the Czechs bag two(2) goals, going on to win the game.

Personally, I think England play their best game of this competition in the 1/8th round against Germany. Germany were favourites to win the game but England prove their worth and scored the Germans 2:0. Germany on the other hand played good football they were just not destined to win that game.

Amongst all the games, France’s game was the biggest stunner. France have been the favourites to win the competition from the very onset but Switzerland 🇨🇭 had other plans. The 6-Goal thriller game, after both 90mins and the extra 30mins, had nothing to separate the sides leading to penalties. Which Switzerland was able to score all their penalties and unfortunately, France was able to score just 4 out of 5 of their penalties, with Mbappe missing his spot kick.

The young French star has had quite a bad competition, this could likely be the first of his professional football career. He was unable to convert any of his chances, both clear cut and contested chances, and later on missed his penalty during the shootout. We cannot mention Mbappe’s miss without commending the efforts of the Swiss goal keeper, Yan Sommer, and Swiss Striker, Haris Seferovic!

They were simply amazing! Yan Sommer made a lot of saves, vital ones, and Seferovic scored a brace to help the Swiss team qualify. From this performance, one would notice that with this hard work and effort, Switzerland could well be the winners of the tournament. But of course they’re not clear, they face Spain in the next round of the competition.

This is what the Quarter Finals of the Competition look like:

  • Switzerland 🇨🇭 vs Spain 🇪🇸
  • Belgium 🇧🇪 vs Italy 🇮🇹
  • Czech Republic 🇨🇿 vs Denmark 🇩🇰
  • Ukraine 🇺🇦 vs England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
The next starts today! So far the match between Belgium is the most anticipated game. I think Belgium is a very strong side and so is Italy but, one could say Italy hasn't really faced any feared opponent in this competition and this is going to be their first tough match. Honestly we don't know what to expect from Italy but for Belgium, their performances have been good all round. After eliminating the current title holders, Portugal, I feel they're to be feared the most and it is very evident.

What do you think about the fixtures?
